Just picked up this car for my son ,then started to have problems, u can turn the key on and some times it will turn over ,and others nothing , all indacator lights are on but nothing, then u can go back out and try it and its fine any advise ?

Then your VATS key resistor is dirty, or your ignition switch contacts are having trouble. The resistor pellet in your key can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol-- or just rub it 22 times on your pants to shine it up- then try it again. But you must wait 4 minutes for that pesky security light to go out between tries.
If this does not work- try your other key.
Ultimate solution- is to bypass the VATS (vehicle anti-theft system) by selecting a resistor of same resistance as the key pellet- and soldering it between the little white wires encased inside the bright orange sheath, that runs along side your steering column. Be sure to cut the wires free from the ignition tumber first- before installing resistor between them.
I've done several VATS systems this way- works great- there are only 14 possible resistor values- I have a chart if needed.
If this does not work- try your other key.

That seemed to work ,I did have to wait untill the security light went out but it started, thank u. I would like to bypass this altogether, I found the two wires, could u draw out for me how to souder a resistor in between them, and how do I determined what size resistor needed? thanks agin

You need a DVM (digital volt meter) so that you can set it on resistance measuring, and touch the two leads to either side of the chip pellet in your key. I usually secure the key head in a vice to hold it still while I touch both side of the pellet. Once you measure the resistance, go to Radio Shack (or anywhere else that sells resistors) and buy the value of the designed resistance in the table below that best matches the resistance you measured. You may need to buy a couple resistors that add up to the designed resistance-and solder them in series- or better yet- buy a $1.50 potentiometer, and "dial-up" the needed resistance. (Radio Shack salesman love to help you decide what to buy)
