I can't seem to find a dash kit to install an aftermarket stereo in my 1984 GMC Sierra K2500. I checked local stores and a few websites but only found stuff for the older c10-c20-c30's and the '88-up pickups. Anybody know/find the kit I need?

I don't see anything either, are you SURE it needs one ? If the radio hole is 7" X 2", you can just put the mounting basket in and slide the unit in. I have done that to several vehicles that "said" it had to have a mounting kit.

No, I'm not sure if I need one or not. The stereo in there now has the two knobs, and looks to be about 2.5-3" tall. I have a pic on my cell phone but have to find my adapter to upload it. The faceplate on that part of the dash is a long piece that spans either side of the steering column as well and there are only holes for the knobs and the tape deck. And I didn't really want to carve it up.

ok, sounds like it was made for the old shaft style radios, not entirely unbelieveable since CD headunits were not available back then. You may not have many choices for a vehicle that old.
