New shift knobspeediva 05-24-2003, 07:29 PM Okay, so it's not much, but it's part of the long, SLOW process: http://www.bigbangelectronics.com/images/car/bolt_on/TK609.jpg I'm absolutely thrilled. I'm going to be taking my shift boot apart and using it for a template to make my own new one. :D G-ealousy 06-25-2003, 07:59 PM You still have your G miss? Last I heard you weren't too happy with it... did you get your new shift boot made? Pics please and thank you... speediva 06-29-2003, 12:12 AM Sadly, I do still have my G. :( I'm learning to hate that stupid car a lil more day by day. The stupid shift knob won't install properly. Every time I tighten down the hex screws it comes loose while I'm driving, so I have all but given-up and I just use the damn stock knob. :( Since I don't have the sexy new shift KNOB on there, I haven't even BEGUN to deal with the boot. :( Every time I try to do something nice for that POS, the bitch comes back and has something important go to shit. Melted the other headlight wiring harness. Gas mileage is back to sucking. Brakes STILL don't feel like I want them to. Clutch STILL won't stay in spec. Who wants to buy this miserable hunk of shyte off me? :crying: Swonder67 07-08-2003, 03:59 PM Originally posted by saturntangerine Sadly, I do still have my G. :( I'm learning to hate that stupid car a lil more day by day. Sadly??? Last time I was on this forum, which was a while ago, I seem to remember someone was quite in love with her car... I guess that's no more... I guess that's no more... I thought she loved it too... Oh well, I love mine, and that's all that matters... :spit: fatboy19972001 08-17-2004, 02:31 PM I want to replace the shift knob on my 96 P10, but I can't tell how to remove the OE knob. I'm guessing it doesn't screw off like the one on my old MR2? Can someone tell me how to remove the knob? Are there screws holding the knob down? I saw something on this thread about hex bolts? Thanks G-ealousy 08-20-2004, 05:03 PM You do just screw it on, but, from the factory, there's glue on it, so you have to wrap it in a towel and use pliers to get it off... If you dont' mind ripping the leather, then you don't have to use the towel... but yeah, leftly loosey does the trick... :) http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/12/web/300000-300999/300781_39_full.jpg speediva 10-15-2004, 07:18 PM Again, I am late... but you don't necessarily NEED to use pliers. I just gave it a HELL of a grip and turn and it came off. It takes a LOT, and my hand hurt, but it didn't damage anything in terms of the leather or the shifter. G-ealousy 10-18-2004, 09:58 AM Well, you can save your self the hand hurt by wrapping the base of the knob with a towel, and then using plumbers pliers ( Channel Lock Pliers (http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS/EN_US/diy_main/pg_diy.jsp?CNTTYPE=PROD_META&CNTKEY=misc%2fsearchResults.jsp&BV_SessionID=@@@@0338233138.1098107810@@@@&BV_EngineID=cceladcmldlllkmcgelceffdfgidgnk.0&MID=9876) ) and it doesn't damage the stock knob, and makes it very easy... ;) speediva 10-31-2004, 11:44 AM My hands will hurt no matter what... I'm a delicate little girl. :lol2: G-ealousy 11-01-2004, 11:59 AM well, then you need to be careful miss... ;) speediva 11-05-2004, 01:17 PM What I need to do is get my shift knob to stay on... :( It's so pretty, and it's just sitting in my car waiting to be used... but it falls off b/c the allen screws come undone. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
