Bought a 2001 Windstar SEL from Florida. Having trouble figuring out what to do to get the daytime running lights working. Hoping to find some help on this forum. I know there is a control module (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/#) I need to buy. I have spent hours combing the web about this and some info says the wiring is there with a dummy plug inserted where the module goes. I have torn the van apart looking for the wiring everywhere in the engine (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/#) bay, including the left front frame rail near the battery. I have found nothing. Need help.

I was told by the dealer that a daytime running light control module is required. I know there is a part# for the van because I have contacted other dealers and they all come up with the same part number. Unfortunately I can't find the wiring anywhere. I wonder if there is a Canadian and US harness for each van depending where the van is headed after it is built. Not very cost effective for Ford but I can't evidence of a connector for the Ford daytime running light control module. I need a Ford Technician with some experience with this matter.

Just an update. After much research I determined the FEM had to be programmable, despite what every Ford dealership told me. I contacted a local automotive specialty shop that deals with electrical issues. They said they would check it out and $67 later I had daytime running lights. Amazing that Ford doesn't know their own vehicles. Actually it isn't that amazing. I have had very little luck with Ford service. Anyway, anyone who wants daytime running lights just needs to go to the dealership service department and try to find someone who knows how to access the programming of the FEM with their special scanner and turn them on. Don't let them tell you it can't be done.
