Wierd 'clunk' noise from Mazda Tributephant0m 01-09-2011, 01:31 PM Hey Guys, I have a 2003 Mazda Tribute 3.0L V6 with about 117K miles and I've been hearing a wierd noise lately. I'm noticing this 'clunk' noise that seems to occur when I accelerate from stopped. I think it's coming from the rear, but I'm not 100% sure. This doesn't happen every time though, it's almost hard to judge when it will happen. It seems that it usually happens with a slightly hard acceleration from being stopped--not a very hard acceleration and not very smooth. I tried to record the sound, but it's too hard to pick up (too much ambient noise like wind). Any ideas on what could be causing this? danielsatur 01-09-2011, 02:11 PM Try checking the universal joints on the drive shaft ASAP, you don't want to drop a drive shaft. Scrapper 01-09-2011, 02:51 PM if coming from front? i would check moter and tranny mounts. otherwise as he said check u/joints. Scrapper 01-09-2011, 02:55 PM i would check moter mounts and tranny mount or even stable lizer links and bushings. or like he said check u/joints. phant0m 01-13-2011, 02:59 PM I'm not sure what is going on with it, it seems to be getting worse :( I'm bringing it to a mechanic asap phant0m 01-16-2011, 11:41 AM Took it to a mechanic... turns out it's the motor mount... $325 for the parts and $100 for labor :/ Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2013
