Valve Cover Nut Broke. Help Me...grumpee 05-23-2003, 12:23 PM Hi there, can anyone tell me the name of the part directly under the valve cover? I was tightening a bolt onto the valve cover and BROKE it. NOt the nut but the bolt holding the above mentioned part and the valve cover together. CAN THIS PROBLEM BE RECTIFIED CHEAPLY? I dont want to buy an all new part. The valve cover is only secured on 3 sides out of 4 and i dont think this is good. ANd is there any way of removing the cruise control? THANKS ALL. Spunkymonkey 05-23-2003, 06:24 PM You can't replace it because its the thread that you broke. Don't worry about it, I did it to mine, last month when I changed spark plugs. It's only holding the middle bit of plastic on the rocket cover in place anyway. Setanta 05-31-2003, 08:11 PM Most engineers will be able to get it out by drilling and tapping it. You think that's bad? I snapped 4 head bolts in an EB3 block once, got each of them plled and helicoiled and away it went. Moral of the story? Never trust an aftermarket manual for torque settings ;) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
