http://www.profil24-models.com/english/cadres_bienvenue_uk.html

and a build thread, but is a few years old now
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=964002&highlight=jag+low+drag

is this the only kit on market? anyone else built it?

is there a north american distributor for this (or alike) kit?

Profil24 is the only kit I know of but must admit I haven't done much research into the subject. Try Stradasports or Island Collectibles, both offer excellent service.

thx man

checked out island $155 usd and $140 usd from stradasports :sly: ...both for the same profil24 kit, it's a thick looking resin body, curb-side only...
...uh, ya, not gonna happen LOL

well, next search, for good detail 1/24 e-type kit, i guess i'm gonna scratch build it instead

Find the Heller 1/24 “racing” E-type - it’s still around on eBay, and can also come in an Airfix box. The Gunze “coupe” is also the Heller coupe kit, but the convertible is different, and is also a very good kit. IIRC it comes with a curvy “hard top” which might be a good starting point for the new look roof - which is nothing like the same shape as the regular coupe rear end.

Good luck!

i'm gonna check out the local shops for a kit, something with good detail, then probably vacu-form a new back half, and make a long nose version (even though they didn't really work in race events) as i like that look

I have that kit and I've built the Profil24 Low Drag Coupe; there isn't much common between the two, the body is quite different in many aspects (the Heller kit body is stock; the only real concession to a racing car is the wheels-the boxart promises a bit more than the kit delivers). It's also nearly impossible to figure how to assemble w/o the body seams. Considering the amount of work to make a low-drag coupe and how different it is from any stock E-Type coupe, one could start from just about any decent E-Type, though the Heller is probably the best as it is full-detail and 1/24 scale. Wheels/tires can be obtained by Replicas & Miniatures.

Some builders have the need for "full detail" and think a simple curbside like the Profil24 isn't good or satisfying enough. I think it looks spectacular (I'm a designer, not an engineer, I don't really care about the dirty bits underneath  ), and I got mine done in a weekend during one of our annual LeMans builds during the race. It would take me a year to figure out how to make it a full-detail model based on any kit. More power to anyone who can accomplish it!

thanks, looks good by the way! :bigthumb:

i'm going to take a look when next at the shops, see if an e-type kit is on the shelf, and will look for those
thx, it helps to know what are re-kits of which

do you have any pics of your 2 finished kits together?

i'd be a great help to see some pics along same axis, to compare the body line contours and complex curves

i don't think you'll find many if any regular 1/24 jaguar kits in shops these days unless it's a resin kit of some sort and even then I'm not sure, off the top of my head, how many of those are detailed.

also, you should know that the revell/monogram ones aren't 1/24

Thanks; my Heller kit is unbuilt and shooting photos isn't feasible at the moment.

Here's some pics that I took for one that I sold recently:

Front of Box:

Detail from box side:

Main Body parts:

(These are the only ones off the sprue)

Chrome, decals, tyres & glazing:

Closeup of side windows / interior side panels:

(apologies for pic quality - with the flash, the plastic just became glare)

The bag for these was already unsealed, but all parts are on the sprues:

A few pages form the instructions:

Body panels trial fitted:

The (badly) assembled & incomplete one - however it still shows that this kit is a pretty decent representation of an E Type, and so much better than the Aurora / Monogram one.

That green one above is the racing version, I can tell by the wheels. Yeah, the Heller is the only way to go if building a full-detail 1/24 E-Type. Only thing I haven't figured out is how to get rid of the body seam on the coupe (aside from painting the body after the interior/glass is installed :screwy: ). Not difficult on a roadster, but a coupe requires a lot of forethought.

i know, monogram is 1/24 and revell is 1/25

as far as I know, they are the same kit.
as stated by others already, the Heller (and Airfix rebox) are the only ones that are close to being 1/24.

it's good to know, though i'm only going to buy one kit, so 1/24 or 1/25 won't make a real difference for my project
