Transmission maintenancedahirolla 12-09-2010, 09:51 AM New to me 2004 Venture. 123k miles. Transmission seems like it slips once every few days or so, mainly when I try to accelerate quickly from a stop. What should I do to make sure everything is in great shape? I'm mainly concerned with the transmission, but would like general input as well. I don't know the service history, but everything looks clean. Should I flush the transmission fluid? Are there filters and coolers to inspect? Are there engine and transmission mounts that need replacing at 100k or so? Thanks! paprius4030 12-09-2010, 12:32 PM Our 04 has this occur every now and then also. When first started in am I back down the driveway then put it in drive and if I cam too quick to step on the gas it seems to slip for a second before engaging. It only does this on the first start in the am. Dealer says everything is fine with transmission, so I just am careful not to step on the gas too fast when I put it in drive. Not sure if this is similar to your problem or not. lesterl 12-09-2010, 10:34 PM Make shure fluid is full hot. Is fluid burnt? Possible sticking solenoid? KEEP TABS ON THE COOLANT FOR SHURE IT WILL BE THE DEATH OF YOUR ENGINE (LIM GASKETS) truc0011 06-24-2011, 02:04 PM New to me 2004 Venture. 123k miles. I have a 2003 Montana which does the exact same thing. Thanks! j cAT 06-25-2011, 08:22 AM Any updates on this issue? I have a 2003 Montana which does the exact same thing. Thanks! when first buying an older used 100,ooo mi vehicle it is best to replace the fuel filter if any, the coolant/thermostat,and all the drive train fluids. with the transmission drop the pan and repalce the filter then refill with the synthetic transmission fluid which is now dexron VI... DO NOT USE THE DEFECTIVE DEXRON III...THIS FLUID WAS FOUND BY GM TO CAUSE TRANSMISSION FAILURES! Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
