you should all know the car.

if not, I will be building the 2 versions of the car form Britian and German GP's respectively. please do not reference actual car :)

Kit is amazing white metal and PE, very crisp and just little clean up. should be a very fun build, trying to find a way to open the front wing and will open the rear wing.

well, after spending countless hours on opening the front wing, I officially succeeded in doing so and looks way better than being closed.

thanks guys, Dave, what are you planning on using paint wise, I was going to go with either the Tamiya Dark Mica Blue or Dark Blue, I really never understood why the blue was made with the decals, which kinda screws up some plans for the metallic look.

but since its way too cold to spray, I can only test fit pieces and the first of the 2 cars are nearly done. got the front wing tested and looks great

Steve I have the Zero color matched paint but I think it's been discontinued. You might want to have a look here for paint if you don't go with the Tamiya

The front wing looks good together.

yeah I was gonna get the paint, but the the red, silver, and blue stripes all have a dark blue surrounding and that will make the zero paint not match, and plus the flakes might be too large for 1/43

well still way too cold to be spraying so everything is still on hold, cant do carbon work because I need to still spray the black.

but the first car is fully prepped and ready, been hard at work with the 2nd.

finally got warm enough to put down the black so I can start the much long and painful process of decalling the carbon fiber and getting to put the belts in the car, both cars are fully prepped and ready to go, prolly wont spray the body until after the new year

I like your precision especially as you build 1/43 car. I did one F1 in 1/43 and it is a patience test :)

Very nice build!

thank you gents, Marco, your work is just too stunning and extremely clean, I truely admire your work and always try to better my skills from seeing terrific build ups.

I got the first of the 2 cars just about all decalled up before the New Years mayhem. finally something that resembles a part of the car :runaround:

all carbon was through templates, there was no decal on the sheet so it was quite fun pulling this off, but it looks great

been awhile for updates, but all the main parts have been sprayed and working on the Carbon decals now.

I got the body somewhat done, the Dark Blue was very annoying, I oversprayed a little too much on each car and got cracks, no worries, carefully sand the areas as best as possible, and got almost all of it, the areas that are covered by decals I really didnt worry other than it being clean and smooth. but now I sprayed clear over it and once again just slighty oversprayed AGAIN and the yellow slighty came up on near all the panel lines and other spots, argggggggggggggg. I was gonna prolly very carefully hand paint the areas and respray the clear once the decals are done and all problems will be solved.

well I decided to do the correct thing and strip the paint and try it again, used Acetone, strips the paint very fast on metal parts and easy cleanup, all I need to do it re-putty.

http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh152/Spike2933/Black%20Bisons/IMG_0022.jpg

but progress was very slowed because of this lol

I wont be able to bring these 2 builds to the expo show next month :(

I suggest you separate the yellow part of the airbox from the rest (as it comes in the kit) In reality the yellow part is fixed to the chassis and the rest is engine cover. In reality there is a small line separating the parts. I sprayed the front yellow (separate part) en I sprayed the body Tamiya Blue and Racing Blue on top. In my view it's spot on. You glue the yellow part on the body, put on the decals and a couple of coats of clear: perfect. This way no masking/ no spraying over other colours/ no bleeding through. The parts are really very well integrated..

the yellow was never the problem, I masked it good the first time and had no problems, I oversprayed the blue and got orange peel, I sanded most of it out but as I sprayed clear, I over sprayed again and all of the lines bled. so its best just to restart it all, I would've done what you suggested but the molding was off too much and the gaps are too big to do it separately.
