Hi i have a 2dr regal 3.8 and the interior lights will flicker and pulsate badly after i close the door. when i open my car door the lights go off including the interior lights but when i close the door they come on. almost as if backwards

I have read post about alternators and voltage regulators but didnt know if buick built the voltage regulator inside the alternator. dont know much about cars but heard the regulators are sometimes seperate to change them if that is the problem.

any tips? thanks:runaround:

Important to annotate what year Regal.

For GM/Delphi alternators the voltage regulator is an internal part of the alternator.

There were a LOT of Regals built since 1973, all of which used an integral regulator. Your initial statement is spot-on. Since they weren't available with a 231 V-6 until 1975 that narrows the possibilities to only about eighty variants. That should be a piece of cake... :)

slixz85,

Knowing the year is crucial. It may be a BCM, theater module, jamb switch, PCM, latch switch, headlight switch, UEC, wire harness, remote module, and probably a hundred other things. It is not, however, an external voltage regulator.
