touch up paintTheNotoriousMogg 05-21-2003, 03:23 PM can anyone offer tips for applying touch up paint??...I hear its a pain in the ass and often runs and bubbles...please help thanks! mogg casperGSR 05-21-2003, 07:17 PM I'll assume that your using the touch up paint that you get from a honda or acura dealership... in which case, use as little amount of paint on the brush as possible... I assume that it's just nicks from pebbles and shit on the road that you're wanting to touch up... just try dabbing it on very lightly and doing a couple of coats... if it does start to bubble as soon as you put it on you should be able to wipe it off (as long as you do it immediately) and try it again... hope this helps. tynebeach 05-21-2003, 09:52 PM just make sure that you don't apply too much at one time. that's the mistake I made when I did some spots on my car, just make sure you take your time. 911GT2 05-21-2003, 10:03 PM Good advice tyne. Don't try and get it looking perfect after one coat. It may require many, just take your time. TheNotoriousMogg 05-23-2003, 12:48 PM Thanks Fellas! BullShifter 05-25-2003, 01:46 AM Detailers tip - Use a match, use the end torn from the book & thin layers like they said. After you get the area your touching up level with the other paint & it has dried, top it off with clear nail polish. You could also mask off the area & wet sand, then touch-up We have an air-brush guy take care of all the rock chips & scratches on the used cars. Thats the best result you will get with out repainting the area. Cheap too Permanent markers work ok for temporary cover-up or for some one who doesnt mind re-applying each time the car is washed 911GT2 05-25-2003, 01:52 AM Good tip - I've never worked in the detailing industry and have to do a little touchup on my car (2001 Civ).
