Mazda MX-6?Pimped Out 4 LYF 05-20-2003, 09:15 PM I have a question. Why arent there many modded up Mazda MX-6's on the road? Well actualy ive never even seen a fixed up one ever. They seem cheaper in price so why arent the ricey people buying these? I agree the horsepower sucks, only 118. But overall why doesnt any1 buy these cars and mod them up? Is there no aftermarket parts or what? Akisan2 05-21-2003, 01:44 AM well there are aftermarket parts, but they are alot less commen compare of that to civic and accords..and all that. Just goto www.mx6.com and you'll find out that our cars are alot more popular then you'd think:) drklver 05-21-2003, 10:40 AM there is not a huge aftermarket following but i've seen some with modified turbos bolted on and such!!!:D SiXPuSHA 05-21-2003, 07:30 PM Corksport (http://www.corksport.com) SP motorsports (http://www.spmotorsports.com) Summit Racing (http://www.summitracing.com) and so on, just have to look :D . Consider ProbeTalk (http://www.probetalk.com) , they can really help u with ANY questions u might have. xxxmonoxidechild 05-23-2003, 02:04 AM 118 horse? is that the base model? try like 200 if u have th kl-ze baby SiXPuSHA 05-27-2003, 07:58 PM I think im gonna go with a ZE, the F/I route just looks like its gonna be too much time and $$ :( mx6gt91 06-08-2003, 11:57 PM Dont foget the 1st gen turbos, which is a very rare fine. mine has 4WS which is crazy rare. Thats true aftermarket parts dont really exist for my car. Most of my stuff is custom besides the exhaust although it is now Heres my 6 It has a different muffler now http://images.cardomain.com/member_img_b/273000-273999/273545_55_full.jpg Pic of the Front Mount http://images.cardomain.com/member_img_b/273000-273999/273545_38_full.jpg This is the muffler I have now, looks way better http://images.cardomain.com/member_img_b/273000-273999/273545_72_full.jpg PharaohsLove 06-30-2003, 09:56 PM The horsepower on the 6 does not suck...my car screams. Kilboy57 07-17-2003, 11:17 AM The four cylinder horse is terrible 118 HP....about 98 to the wheels...thats just said ....trust me I know from experience There is nothing like trying to pass across a double yellow line cuz its ur first day with the car and u still think its fast and nearly having a head on cuz u couldnt get back in time...Did I mention my car is ATX four cyl....BOOOOOOO I'm not raging on the 6 by any means...I really wish I waited and shopped around I would have gotten a 5 speed LS (those can move) The coolest thing about the 6 is its a pretty rare (or at least not extremely common car) so if you deside to hook it up you will definitly turn heads  Never Enough Power 07-19-2003, 11:15 AM Just happened to wander to your forum from mine (Mitsu Eclipse) and wanted to let you know about my friend's '89 MX-6. We were at the drag strip last night and he was clicking off CONSISTENT 13 second runs. There are parts available, you just have to track them down. daze 07-30-2003, 04:34 PM Gotta remember they stopped making these in '97, and the whole production numbers are only a fraction of Honda's and other ricer's. I see alot more Probes on the road, compared to the 6. I just like the looks of the Mazda better. I have a '93 and like the fact that I don't have OBDII. beastieb32 08-04-2003, 03:38 PM I have been looking around for some time now for a car that i could mod and for awhile i thought the only way to go these days was with some type of a honda. But i found a mx6 LS v-6 on autotrader and looked up some info on it and took it for a test spin and that thing was quick! Just bought it today! The thing i like about it is that you rarely see a stock one driving around in St. Louis let alone one with mods so i like the fact that what i do to mine and having one would be a unique thing. And if you take the time and sit down and look for parts for one you'll actually find alot of places selling mazda parts and such. (www.mx6.com is a great place to start your search) mazda91mx6 09-07-2003, 07:08 PM I really don't see many 6's around here but that's what I like...I feel like I'm being unique and yeah my car can move and it's N/A 5 spd...I've seen plenty of mods for my car as well, but there are more for 2nd gen. Zero6 09-08-2003, 03:16 PM Personally I love my 1st Gen 6. It was reasonably priced and with the excepton of a new clutch has been trouble free, which is great since it has 146k on it. I did find a lack of mods for the base 4 cylinder, and decided after a little looking that it would be better just to buy a GT model when this one gets on its last legs. Good tires and sparks have been very helpful and of course very little work. It has been a peppy little car and I've handed out some beatings to newer DOHC Saturns (everyone in Buffalo with a Saturn coupe seems to think they're great). Went toe to toe with a V6 2001 Monte Carlo and have beaten a 2001 V6 Cougar (I can't help wondering if he was gave up trying though...). I owe this to having the five speed and the car having a light body. So while I have been spanked a few times, I would recommend it as a cheap and fun used car, besides I think they look spiffy. NitroguN 03-22-2004, 12:50 AM 118 horse? is that the base model? try like 200 if u have th kl-ze baby Try 200 if u have th kl-ze baby? Explain! lol are there mx6's with 200hp? I thought they only came 116hp-160 (v6) i'm lookin to get an mx6 but damn i dont want to be slow ... :( all my friends have hondas - Ty :) rickyi869 05-31-2004, 12:20 AM my 93 mx6 hit 170hp on the dyno v6 5pd with a few bolt ons and custom cams korrrray 07-05-2004, 12:42 AM eventhough it seems like mx6's hp is not all that, these cars can race, especially in street, these babies have super handling and acceleration. I have both a 2nd gen 4 cyl.mx6 and a 2nd gen LS with 2.5 v6. I have exhaust/chip/intake and stuff, this car can move and I dont see any honda product coming near the mx6's value. cheap extremely reliable fast a lot of mods ( including the available 200 hp KLZE JAPANESE engine) unique zoom zoom zoooooom vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
