I'm trying to confirm if a CCRM with a different p/n can be used to replace my existing one. That is, did Ford just change the p/n even though the part is the same? The one on my car is labeled F8CF-12B581-BD yet someone not too far from me has one he says will work for 2003 escorts even though the p/n is different.

The one he has is p/n 3S41-12B577-BA

** Update - just heard back from the seller and he says he thinks it won't work on the ZX2s, but isn't sure... can anyone confirm?

Sometimes the manufacturer will change the part number because there is a difference in the design but not the functuality. I agree with your friend. I don't think the 2 parts are interchangeable.
