Brakes "stutter" on a '99 GTP

I haven't taken off the wheels yet to look, but I have a "stutter" in the front brakes. The stutter feels like ABS but I'm wondering if I might have a disc out of round (not flat). The stutter is pronounced through the steering wheel.

Can anyone give me an idea what to look for and or what I can do to troubleshoot?

Is this "stutter" more like a pulsate when the brakes are applied? Sounds like you're describing warped rotors. For the price, might as well just buy new rotors

Sounds right. How do the rotors get warped -- hard braking?

When specifically does the stutter happen?

exactly. Hard braking causes the rotors to heat up, then cool, heat up cool again and again which causes the rotors to warp.

some can be machined, but for the price to have someone machine them...just buy new rotors. Also....get new pads, you dont want fresh rotors with old pads
