98 Deville - Dash Lights Out

My dad has a 98 Deville with over 100k on it. He said the other night he came home and parked the car and the next day when he went to start it the only thing that lit up was the transmission display and the car wouldn't start. He tried charging it but that didn't do anything. Is there a relay or something that may be out?
