Is 02 Camry fuel filter 'built in'??

My 2002 Camry just rolled over to 100,000 miles, and just the other day I took my car to get the oil changed. In addition to the oil change, I asked the mechanic to check my transmission fluid, power steering fluid, air filter, and fuel filter to see if they needed changing. He changed my oil, and didn't say anything about the transmission & power-steering fluids. He said that the fuel filters on the model Camry I have are 'built in', and that I'd never have to worry about changing them. He also said that it doesn't have a timing belt, but it has a chain instead. Is this true? (At least he didn't try to talk me IN to anything, like most mechanics would).

BTW, my engine is a 2.4L four cylinder.

I don't know about the fuel filter so I would check the manaul stickied at the top of this forum for that information. Here's the link: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=497839
Look in the generation 5 service manual under the fuel sytem for the 2AZ engine.

He is correct about the timing chain. The 2AZ uses a chain instead of a rubber timing belt. The chain is intended to last the life of the car.
