Widebody CivicAndy Jones 05-18-2003, 12:11 PM Its funny how things turn out but I had intended to get the Honda S2000 body ready for paint but the weather was wet and I'd just received the Civic kit from the states and SAS's widebody kit so the plans have gone out of the window. Anyhow 3 pics attached of current progress (- you probably don't need me to tell you that the front is the SAS integra chopped to fit). No real ideas on colour/wheels at the moment but will keep you posted on progress. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/547432civic001.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/841679civic002.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/333364civic003.jpg Sorry about the poor photos - the sun has decided to shine - typical of the english weather ! Hiroboy 05-19-2003, 06:49 AM Looking good, the end result it going to be nice Even thou' I really don't like the car, and that wing on the rear is so wrong. BOOSTD 05-19-2003, 11:44 AM Very nice, should look great as usual  Mean_B16 05-19-2003, 03:01 PM Well that is gonna be one insane civic! Andy Jones 05-19-2003, 04:09 PM Originally posted by Hiroboy Looking good, the end result it going to be nice Even thou' I really don't like the car, and that wing on the rear is so wrong. Yeah you're right it is a bit naff - I'll have to see if I can thin it down a bit or find something else - I must admit I had my reservations about it when I saw the kit originally - perhaps it'll look better when its in primer:( RyanGiorgio 05-19-2003, 04:23 PM Looks great. Those rims are super real and super chrome. Can't wait to see it completed. supratuner 05-19-2003, 06:04 PM WOW you are soo perfect ex-r 05-22-2003, 02:20 PM I didn't know the widebody kits from SAS are available. Or are they? I want to get one. Please let us know. TIA. GTmike400 05-22-2003, 02:55 PM Originally posted by ex-r I didn't know the widebody kits from SAS are available. Or are they? I want to get one. Yea, SAS just made them. ex-r 05-22-2003, 07:32 PM Cool, thanks. :) Andy Jones 05-24-2003, 11:03 AM Got round to doimg the other side today and putting a quick coat of primer on. Different wheels than last time - still undecided and theres still the question of what to do with the rear wing. I'm off to throw some filler at it. Later guys :sun: Honoturtle 05-24-2003, 02:54 PM Wow, I'm impressed! Here's my opinion on a wing, make a Type R one. Question, how easy was it to combine the two bumpers, I was planning on doing the same with my coupe model, but was wondering if this would be easier! Mean_B16 05-24-2003, 03:15 PM I say leave the jet fighter wing OFF! remember this is just a civic and it is NOT capable of Mach I speeds:D so please use a better wing that does not need a flashing red light! (you know, to warn low flying planes in the dark) love what you got going on with that front end though.;) Andy Jones 05-24-2003, 04:03 PM Originally posted by Honoturtle Wow, I'm impressed! I used the top of the standard civic and the SAS integra front clips - Its a bit difficult to explain but if you check the picture you'll see where I made the cuts - the SAS front is a straight drop in. Hope this helps Andy Andy Jones 05-24-2003, 04:12 PM Originally posted by Mean_B16 I say leave the jet fighter wing OFF! remember this is just a civic and it is NOT capable of Mach I speeds:D so please use a better wing that does not need a flashing red light! (you know, to warn low flying planes in the dark) love what you got going on with that front end though.;) Agreed re the rear wing - I've got a Civic type R wing lying around from an old fujmi kit and I think I'll go with that - it just needs shortening a little. It's got to be an improvement on the kit wing Cheers Andy minidreams_n_scale 05-24-2003, 04:21 PM got up this moring and started to work on my hatch as while mostly alot of paint detail work , thought i would take a break for a while and seen this , and ITS LOOKING SWEET , I should have done this to my civic , keep up the alsome work , , and those wheels fill the body kit great , cant wait to see it done , later David Mean_B16 06-07-2003, 03:55 PM Any more progress on this kit?? Andy Jones 06-08-2003, 06:07 AM Originally posted by Mean_B16 Any more progress on this kit?? Much much to report - progress is slow as I've been trying to tidy up the bodywork and get everything to flow together.Currently it looks like this http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/755147civ001.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/862511civ002.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/577200civ003.jpg On the plus side I have made some progress with the S2k and hope to be able to post some progress shots later Thanks for your interest Andy:bigthumb: Andy Jones 06-17-2003, 06:35 AM Pictures of the Civic now sprayed up in Renault pearlescent black automotive paint & clearcoated - just need to leave it to cure for a couple of days and then I can polish it out.Decided to get rid of the rub strip as it looked a bit odd imo and also filled in the tailgate. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/446112wbc004.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/466365wbc005.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/159031wbc006.jpg cheers Andy flyonthewall 06-17-2003, 06:52 AM Oooo YES!!! I guess your using an air brush with the automotive paints, not rattle cans like duplicolour or similar ? Great finnish. cheers stump:aus: bah humbug 06-21-2003, 06:45 PM I see you keep using mesh. I like that. Gotta try it myself. I guess the engine bay will be stock. rsbousquet 06-21-2003, 07:03 PM what an awesome car!~!! how did i miss this thread? love it.. i think you should go with the first rims you posted though. they look a lot nice. wanna see this completed completely :) nice nice nice.. and good choice ditching that fugly wing.. the duckbill style one would have been ok but i like it without a wing. Great finnish. cheers stump:aus: Thanks for the kind words I usually use Halfords acrylic automotive paint and their clear lacquer straight from the can. The finish from the can isn't too important, although the better the clear is applied the less work with the polishing kit. Some I hardly have to polish -some have to spend an hour or so on - alot depends on the weather as I spray outside in the garage Cheers Andy Jetts 06-22-2003, 03:14 AM omg that car is aswome looks like the car i wanted to make, 96 hatch wide body black with pearl blue ghost flames so sexy Andy Jones 06-22-2003, 02:47 PM Not much done today except to make a start on the interior - I've had to resort to cutting the glass into four pieces and have managed to install the rear glass ok - progress will probably slow a little now as I'm back at work tommorrow:frown: but will keep you updated http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/556772w006.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/835219w.jpg Cheers Andy Midnight Racer 06-22-2003, 02:49 PM Can't wait to see it done. It's Humbrol acrylic 5043 matt - It goes on a bit thick if you try and brush paint it however if you thin it down with water is sprays ok though an airbrush (I've just got a simple Badger 200 but it does the job) and it does give a nice flat finish - can you get Humbrol paints in the US? - I guess Tamiya Color acrylic X-16 might be a bit easier to get hold of. Cheers Andy anodize7 06-23-2003, 03:10 PM the purple is nice..... very clean as well.... i love the interior.... bah humbug 06-23-2003, 04:28 PM Originally posted by anodize7 the purple is nice..... very clean as well.... i love the interior....
