Kicker L5

In my Corvette, I have a 12 Kicker Solo L5. It's not in a normal box, but made to fit into a compartment in the hatch made for storing things. It's about half the size of a normal box you would see for a 12. It's sealed, but I don't think it sounds very good. They say that the box is half of how the sub sounds, and the amp and sub itself are a quarter of it....is this true? Could I get better sound from a proper box from Kicker or someone? Also, how important is ohm matching, in relation to sound quality? Thanks.

matching the box, speaker, and car is more like 90%. An average speaker in a well designed box, that's installed in the right place in the car will outperform most expensive speakers that are installed poorly.

Impedance has really nothing to do with sound quality UNLESS the impedance is so low that it causes the amp to overdrive and clip real bad
