Brent Maddog 11-05-2001, 07:48 AM Nice pics Brent. I've been to 234 a number of times and I still haven't seen all the trails. Dog Harbones 11-06-2001, 06:56 PM Originally posted by Schludwiller http://xterra4x4.com/images/bin/through.jpg Uhh, is it just me, or does that seem slightly insane... Goliath the X 11-06-2001, 07:45 PM :bloated: Ok Shuld, you can't post a picture like that and not include some info... Did he hydrolock the engine? Is that a river, or an ocean? Why did he do that? :smoker2: Schludwiller 11-06-2001, 07:57 PM It's Slimedog on one of our earlier trips (the first one I went on with PNWX where I drove all the way from Canada to the Oregon Coast). It's freshwater (for the most part. Away from the beach, but I guess there could be some salt content from the sand). One of the club members walked through the water and it wasn't much higher than knee level, but Slimedog went a bit off to the side of where the walkthrough occurred. As he went through he found a deep hole and the front end lifted (buoyancy) and he lost traction for a second, but his momentum got him to the other side and the front wheels grabbed some sand to get him out. I have video, but have to dig out the CD somewhere in my office. In response to OffroadX's comment, if he had gone slow he would have been screwed as he would have just floated (or sunk) once he hit the hole. No it's not the ideal situation and not an example of good technique, but he made it out ok, and didn't suffere any negative effects from the water crossing. :flash: Ag_xterra 11-06-2001, 08:40 PM i tried posting a picture in the orginal message but it wouldnt let me attach it. after that it wouldnt let me post the message at all so i was suprised to see it on here. here's the picture Maddog 11-06-2001, 10:46 PM Looks good man. Can't wait to get back over to Dumfries. I'm not certain, but I don't even think I've hit that particular trail. There is so much back there, I'm sure there are tons of routes I haven't hit though. Dog OffroadX 11-07-2001, 11:23 AM Schlud, methinks you meant you were responding to Harbones' comment, correct? Otherwise, I'm confused. Brent Schludwiller 11-07-2001, 11:56 AM Originally posted by OffroadX Schlud, methinks you meant you were responding to Harbones' comment, correct? Otherwise, I'm confused. Brent Just getting my boards confused. The slow crossing part I confused with your comment on Voy. G-Forces 11-07-2001, 12:22 PM DIdnt' you guys learn anything from Ghostbusters? You're not supposed to cross the streams! :hehehe::hehe: Sorry I couldn't resist. :D superjens 11-07-2001, 02:15 PM Groan ..... Good one though :p S-works 11-08-2001, 11:12 AM Ag... nice man! How are you liking those new MT's? Treating you well? Brent, that's the section just before where you did the crossing, I think. Ag's climbing the bank to the left of where you crossed. Hey Ag, when did you go? We were just there! We should have seen you if it was Saturday. Ag_xterra 11-08-2001, 12:22 PM i love my MTR's. traction is great over all surfaces i've encountered so far. the crossing to my left here is where we broke a range rover. it blew its transfer case and could not be driven at all. i had to tow him out about 1/2 miles back out to the street by the hampton inn. we were there on sunday. one of the bikers there said that he saw about 7 xterras and one frontier there the day before. OffroadX 11-08-2001, 02:11 PM Yep, I know that spot. I was surprised you made it over that Bob, didn't think the stock tires would have the grip especially with that root all the way across. AG, did the Rover attempt the crossing? If so, what the heck did he do to manage to blow his transfer case. It was a pretty clean bed other than one pillow-sized rock a little off center. I stayed towards the shore you are on in the pic and had no problem. I assume you didn't go any further back on that trail. Bob got hung up at the next crossing and since it was getting late we decided to head back, we hadn't run the hillclimbs yet anyway. I do plan to explore further down that trail next time. Brent Ag_xterra 11-08-2001, 08:34 PM i think you may be thinking of a different crossing. here is the crossing spot that the other rover broke his transfer case over. his front tires got up but he didnt have enough momentum to get over the obstacle. when he backed up to try again and put it back into drive all we heard was a crunch and bang. that was the end of him. winch and tow strap to the rescue. Ag_xterra 11-08-2001, 08:41 PM here is the pic Ag_xterra 11-08-2001, 09:10 PM it will not let me post a picture. keeps saying everything is too big even a 320x200. it wont let me delete my prior posts either. keeps saying i need to update my profile then it wont let me do anything. my computer sucks ass!!!! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
