hello. I have a 2000 grand prix with a 3.1 motor. I had a problem with my passenger side strut bearing. I bought the brand new one and put it on and buttoned it up. After that i took it for a ride, and it steers perfect going towards the passenger side, But when you go about0-40 mph now it does not turn to the drivers side well, it buttons right up and gets hard. today i replaced both front struts and it does it still. just need some insight to what it might be causing the hard turn to the left.

I did replace the drivers side tie rod, and on that drivers side, there is no play in the lower control arm. The pass lower control arm has a little play. thanks for any help

Are you sure you don't have an issue with the rack?

um i dont think so cause it started just as soon as i changed out the bearing. steering was perfect before that.

Alright, try this. Jack the car up under the control arm. Remove the tire. Remove the tie rod end from the knuckle. Turn the knucle by hand. Can you feel it bind up? If not check the other side if don't feel anything there either than with both tie rod ends disconnected turn the steering wheel. Do you feel it now?

I have had this problem before. How tight did you make the nut on the top of the strut? if it is to tight ( full bore with 1/2" impact gun), it puts to much stress on the bearing and binds up. Try loosening the nut a little see if that helps.

ok, we just jack up both side separately and put somethin under the lower control arm. Either side did not steer hard at all, till we put the tire back on.

Could you tell me if alignment would be it, cause when im driving the steering wheel is strait. could it be half of the rack??
