Rare Cars We Want To Build

So I've been thumbing through this book of cars thinking that would be so fun to build. Wow, that would be fun to build too! Why has there never been a kit of that car? Then I thought, I should start a thread on AF asking people to post a picture of a car they'd love to build but never had a kit available.

Three things I hope to accomplish:
1) Spread the word on some cool cars the rest of us may have never seen before.
2) Share with manufacturers about what we'd like to build. (edit: Yea this one's a bit of a stretch...)
3) Maybe give a member the instant gratification of knowing that "Yes, a kit of that DOES exist."

Only one rule: If you mention a vehicle you gotta post a picture of the car or motorcycle, ok? There's no point in telling everyone about that awesome Lumbergotti Poontang XV1 if no one has ever seen one now is there.

Here's one I've been wanting to build for a while now. Yes, it's a Ferrari, a Zagato designed 250 GT and I love this car...

Do we speak of any scale or are you only thinking to 1/24th scale ?
some of the car I'd like to see in 1/24 have been made in 1/43, not each time exactly the version or evolution (I'm mostly talking about rally cars), but they weren't completely ignored.

Among those cars (having existence in 1/43 scale) one I really would like to find in 1/24 is the Suzuki SX4 WRC.

I'm still hyperventilating over that polished aluminum Veyron. Man, I'd love to build that thing!

Here's another one I've wished I could build but no kit exists:

Yes, Lindberg attempted a kit 50 years ago but it's so bad scratch-building one from mud and twigs would be easier (and faster probably...) The car has a supercharged Lycoming engine in it. Even the color of this is kinda cool: Cigarette Cream. Gotta love the 30's!

How 'bout a bike? Here's one I still can't believe no one has kitted.
http://i419.photobucket.com/albums/pp280/cratecruncher/Miscellaneous/DucatiMHe900e.jpg
It's called the Ducati MH900e and it's a fun little retro bike from around 2002. Given how popular the Tamiya 1/12th Ducati kits are I can't believe they never did this one. It would be a simple tool too... Anyway, here's a vid of a guy jumping on his and flying away, eventually. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q21_fJqPCOA

Guys, please keep in mind the original poster's request that if you mention a car, then please show an image of it.
Also, please refrain from posting comments as there's nothing worse than seeing a "new post" mark next to a thread like this only for it to be a short comment and not a new photo of a car that might be interesting.

Hence, from now on, I will be trimming posts from this thread that don't mention and show a car.
And with that:

I've always admired the Jaguar sports/racing cars. While the Le Mans winning XJR-9LM has been kitted to death, I think the producers missed the prettiest one ever made: the Jaguar XJ-13. K&R Replica's attempted a crude 1/24th white metal kit for $178 US... It's sooo bad.....
http://i419.photobucket.com/albums/pp280/cratecruncher/Miscellaneous/66-Jagauar-XJ13-DV-10-AI-01.jpg
This was the first Jaguar V-12. It had all the swoopiness of the C,D, and E-types combined with a mid-engined 12 and an incredibly competent chassis for 1966. Notice in the photo how downright homely that tobacco car behind it looks in comparison. The XJ-13 never got past the concept stage but if MFH could do the Ford P-68 then this one is surely worthy of a kit!

Here's an interesting video. He really spanks the beast starting at 3:00 in the clip. The exhaust note is amazing!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_4E6qxkKuc&NR=1

Note: Bikouros, I need pictures! Thanks.

Edit: Guys, the reason I started the thread was to give us a chance to share cars we'd like to build with one another in the hopes that the internet exposure would generate a high enough interest to get a kit manufacturer to make it at some point. But it won't work if you just make a vague list of stuff. Try to concentrate on one car you feel passionate about and tell us a little more about it, a picture, a video clip. In other words, sell it! Convince us that we should want to build one too. Thanks to Endac, I'm wanting to build a polished Bugatti Veyron, a car I didn't know about before this thread.

oh, you mean I can still EDIT THIS?

That's nice. :)

Tatra T87, anyone?

http://clunkbucket.com/wp-content/uploads/tatra_t87.jpg

Funky-looking but quite the technical accomplishment in its day.

And this one might be comparatively "mainstream", but LawdaMIGHTY do we need a kit of a Bugatti Atlantic:

http://newcarsinfo.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/bugatti-type-57sc-atlantic.jpg

But okay, fine, if there's any single car I'd focus on besides a '48 Tucker Torpedo, it's this little heartbreaker right here:

http://www.concorsodeleganzavilladeste.com/images/2005/pininfarina/01.jpg

The Cisitalia 202, Piero Dusio's masterpiece, a seminal design from Pininfarina's Pinin Farina days. This was one of eight cars highlighted in the New York Museum of Modern Art's first exhibit on automotive design, in 1951; and the most compelling reason I can think of to have one in scale is the simple, tactile pleasure of running first your fingers, and then eventually some rubbing compounds, polish, and wax over those contours. It would be no less exquisite to hold in your hands than it is to behold in person.

have to say, i'm mildly disappointed that the OP talked about wanting to see if we can get together and list cool cars you might not know about and most people are seemingly just listing the usual suspects and/or other modern cars that we do all know about.

anyway.

I've always liked the peculiar look of the Piper cars.

The Estoque does exist, Mondomotors release it as a 1/24 scale metal kit, something close to Bburago kit it seems...
The Peugeot RC's have been release in 1/43rd scale by Provence Moulage.

Another one I'd be pleased to see in 1/24 scale is the Peugeot 106 Maxi.

That BAT 11 is going to be at the Milwaukee Masterpiece concours next weekend along with a bunch of old Alfa's. Quattroruote Magazine is doing a Sprint Speciale in 1/24th scale as a quality diecast next year. You could tear it apart and repaint or just leave it alone. They are very good quality.
You can't find a Sprint Speciale for $20,000.00, infact you can't even find a good Bertone GTV 1750 or 2000 for that much anymore. The Ferrari guys are buying the good ones for a premium, and they have lots of money to spend.

Ah, there are so many cars I'd like to see in 1/24 or 1/12 plastic. Here's a short list. While I know many are available in diecast (not much fun pulling it out of a box)or resin (too expensive for my budget) form, it's not the same.

Perhaps my favorite motorcycle of all time is the Moto Guzzi Otto Cilindri (8 cylinder). The specs on this bike are pretty jaw dropping. Power is from a 500cc V8 engine that weighs only 99 pounds. The thing has dohc, water-cooling, 8 carburetors and generates 78 bhp @ 12.5k rpm! All this in 1954...
http://i419.photobucket.com/albums/pp280/cratecruncher/Miscellaneous/V8_27.jpg
Unfortunately, the company was kinda small and didn't have the resources to develop it or make a chassis and brakes anywhere in the same league as the engine.
http://i419.photobucket.com/albums/pp280/cratecruncher/Miscellaneous/04-7-09-22MandelloMuseoV8-1957.jpg
Protar did a simple 1/9th kit of this bike years ago so technically I shouldn't have included it in this thread but "Oh Man, What a bike to build as a model!" Those Protar kits are rare as chicken lips nowadays.

Here is a rather shallow video of Leno and others falling over themselves in praise of the technical accomplishment the bike represented:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O_7zwGFGwI

Here is a more interesting video showing a fellow riding what I think is a replica. He really gooses it toward the end. Being that there is so little inertia in the moving components the thing revs almost instantaneously. It's a weird exhaust note, not anything like a v8 I've ever heard:
