Vric 05-15-2003, 08:29 AM look good, but since you didn't paint it, it look very plastic like :( Unpainted kit = look like a toy :( but, for your first kit... I don't see nothing wrong beside that ! good job dvdfreak 05-15-2003, 08:27 PM I have ordered some paint for this one, but the shipping will take several more days, can't wait for it. integra818 05-15-2003, 08:30 PM Originally posted by Vric look good, but since you didn't paint it, it look very plastic like :( Unpainted kit = look like a toy :( but, for your first kit... I don't see nothing wrong beside that ! good job As if the real F50 is un-plastic like? :D The real F50 is'nt even metal, it's all carbon-fiber. :) freelunch 05-16-2003, 12:34 AM Shoot some clearcoat and it will look painted. dvdfreak 05-16-2003, 12:40 AM Originally posted by integra818 As if the real F50 is un-plastic like? :D The real F50 is'nt even metal, it's all carbon-fiber. :) yes, you can see carbon-fiber wave if watch close enough on the real F50 but I agree that plastic has a transparent looking, and not as solid as real. dvdfreak 05-23-2003, 02:17 PM finnally I get ts-8 ordered yesterday for it is the first time that I ever use a ts can, I tried on the roof that I am not going to use. this is what it looks like now. http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/231241DSCF0093_700.JPG http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/543676DSCF0092_700.JPG what do you see, orange peeeeeel :( :( :( :( :( :( what should I do? left it for several days to gas out, and then... should I sand it or direct apply polish compond without sand? and anybody tell me the probable reason for my getting peel? I think it is because that I spray too thick. Veyron 05-23-2003, 02:23 PM That is more orange peel than you should have with TS paint, but it isn't bad. Sand with 1000 grit paper until it is level, this is very important! Next, polish with Tamiya compound, it should be okay. How many coats of red did you spray? :) nervestrikes 05-23-2003, 02:26 PM It could be that you sprayed to thick or that you sprayed to close. I usually spray from about 12 inches away allowing a mist to cover the model in two to three coats fifteen minutes apart. I believe the compound would smooth it out with out sanding cause it doen't look that bad. Then wax it. Try it see what happens, experience is the best teacher. dvdfreak 05-23-2003, 02:35 PM should I strip the paint off and try another time or sand/polish it when it is cured? Veyron 05-23-2003, 02:41 PM It should polish out fine, don't panic. I've seen worse orange peel than that, it just takes more work but the result is the same. Try sanding and polishing, you need to learn the process sooner or later. :) bah humbug 05-23-2003, 03:34 PM Veyron is right. Listen to him, I suck at spray painting even with Ts paints and I always sand then polish. Vric 05-23-2003, 07:53 PM look like to made 1 tick coat.. It don't look that bad.. but try to make 3 or 4 very light coat.. if no dust go on it, you should get a perfect paint without polishing.. TS paint are the easyest to work with.. never had a bad result with it ! dvdfreak 05-24-2003, 06:41 AM thanks for all of your response It is the spare part that I am not going to use, so I did not keep it from dust very seriously. I still not sure for why I get that orange peel, it looks very smooth when I spray the last coat, but it dried like this. does this has something to do with the humidity? or have I wait too long between the coats? or it is simply because I spray too thick? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
