How to fix rust on my 1990 Ford Escort LxRaffiBaghdo 07-19-2010, 07:18 PM It's a 1990 Ford Escort Lx with a 1.9l efi engine. The car only has 80,000 miles on it and it runs great. I got it for 350 bucks and no problems yet but my friends are being asses and they're insulting me about the rust. It is mainly on the fenders and I don't know how to fix it lol. Can you help a newbie? Davescort97 07-21-2010, 03:11 PM If you want a permanent fix you'll have to replace the fenders or cut the rust portiions out and weld in a new piece. Altough it may not last, I would cut the rust portions out and fill in areas using bondo. If the rust area cut out is larger than 2-3 inches use fiberglass mat along with the bondo. Of course, you'll have to get the car painted after you do that. Thx do you know where I can get fenders for the Escort and I was thinking of going to maaco to paint the car Davescort97 07-22-2010, 04:07 AM Call around to your local salvage. Shouldn't be any trouble finding fenders for it as old as it is. No disrespect intended. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2013
