All after market filters I know about are 63mm. Can't find a 63mm 14 point that uses socket wrench drive. Anybody know a source? Alternatively does anyone know a larger filter that works on these cars?

I use this Lisle filter wrench on my 07 and my 94 Camry. It adjusts to all small size filters and makes the job easy:

Thanks, sorry for not posting sooner. something happened to computer and couldn't logon for awhile.

I looked at a wrench that appears to be what is in the link you gave. The 2007 filter is only 63mm which is slightly under 2.5". I tried the wrench and it slips so I took it back. But the reason I took it back is that it does not tighten only loosens. I need a filter wrench I can use with the car not jacked up which makes it difficult to hand tighten the filter.

If the wrench worked in both directions I could have made it work.

For my application i need a wrench that will make a positive connection even though do not have the dar jacked up to give acess foreasy manipulation of the wrench.

I do not know what kind of filter they use in 2007 Camry, but ALL regular filters you screw it up untill it touches the surface and then turn it 3/4 of a turn more. That is it. It will not leak! Keep in mind you still have to remove it at your next oil change.

Good luck,

Sam

I use that wrench just to loosen the filter. The more gripping torque is needed the tighter that wrench get's. It is best to only hand tighten the filter, as it will get a bit tighter over time and may be difficult when it comes to getting it off at the next oil change. That said, I understand it is difficult to hand tighten if the car is not up a bit off the ground. I would try Walmart for the cap style filter. They should have what you are looking for and you could try one of their off the shelf Fram filters to make sure it fits. They should also be a bit cheaper than most auto parts stores. I also have a cap style flutted filter, but don't use it to remove the filter. It can be a pain to get the filter loose from the cap at times after removal. I've had the cap style filter for so long I can't remember where I purchased it.

Just a word of caution, don't get too carrried away with tightening the filter with the cap wrench. It may make it so tight it may be extremely difficult to remove it for the next oil change. Just snug it up a bit.

I know about the 3/4 turn is tight enough. But with out the car jacked up a bit, I just can't get a good enough grip to do it. Perhaps i could with dry hands but how do I know it is making 3/4 turn. With a endcap wrench I could start it, hand tighten until it just touches then use the ratchet to do the 3/4 additional which I could observe at the visible ratchet handle instead of having to get my head up under where there just is not enough room.

So for my purposes I need a good fitting endcap wrench.

I have been finding that size on some motorsycle parts sites but they are pricey. Just taken by surprise that such a simple thing has turned out to be not so simple. That filter is right next to the drain plug and with the right tools it would be a piece of cake to knock out a oil change in just a few minutes without having to jack up the car or anything.
