At what speed is the Celica Governed at?Noy 11-01-2001, 11:34 PM whats the top limited speed on a stock GT-S Celica...just curious M Spec 12-17-2001, 11:56 AM Brand new current shape stock Celica's are not electronically speed governed. Most guys are maxing out in the mid 140's (mph) on their speedo's. Jason schork_j 02-27-2004, 03:49 PM i am wondering what a 1990 celica st tops out at? Team_Omega1 03-01-2004, 03:07 AM 132 mph...but thats pushing it...my buddy did it to his st and it wouldnt pick up any more oz353 03-03-2004, 10:20 PM ive done it too but now its blown am swaping a gt engine in and would like to know if anyone knows if it will bolt right in with the gt mounts on an st body oz353 03-03-2004, 10:21 PM thats about right ive done it too but now its blown up. im swaping a gt engine in and would like to know if anyone knows if it will bolt right in with the gt mounts on an st body oz353 03-03-2004, 11:39 PM ooops jaggedyer 03-05-2004, 08:37 PM oz, not sure about that. It SHOULD cuz theyre very similar bodies but you might need to make some minor adjustments (like ECU, sensors, engine mount locations etc.). I took a 1987 Toyota Celica GT with Pacesetter headers and ported and polished heads up to about 138MPH over a bridge (automatic tho). It could rev a whole lot higher just the wind resistance and road friction is what stopped it. oz353 03-06-2004, 11:09 PM thanx i knew about the ecu sensors and all that but the mounts are whats worrying me iceecellica 04-23-2004, 09:42 PM what would a 91 gt-s hit you think? fiveSFE 10-15-2004, 01:08 AM 90-93 will govern at 125, ive taken mine to 125, and ive read it is 125, in 5th gear at 125 it is at 5000 rpms and u cant go any higher fiveSFE 10-15-2004, 01:32 AM i didnt have a speedometer once, and i topped it out, im sure it was faster than 125. even though none of u should go this fast 91stcelica 10-16-2004, 02:10 AM i got a 91 celica st n am wondering wut is the biggest engine possible to install in it. somebody told me i couldnt change the engine because of the motor mounts not lining up... exileprophet 10-16-2004, 08:18 PM The spedometer in my 84 GT is broken. It reads anywhere from 10mph higher than actual at low speeds and 25-30 at higher speeds... but it's the spedometer that's broken, my wheels are not too small. Sometimes the needle will jump around, definately just broken. As for it's top speed I have no idea. There arent many places to try it out where you won't get nailed with police or sharp turns. 91 Celica St 10-25-2004, 12:50 PM you can put a 5sfe (gt gts motor) but the motor mount points dont line up...shoulda be fairly esay, but for cheapre and a better motor wyou could put a 4age in it Black top or silvertop, newhere between 120 Hp to 170HP...or a 4agze 160-190 HP those are all depending on generations and how many miles vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
