2005 Pilot - Gurgling Rattle Under Dash Pass side

I have an odd intermittent gurgling noise coming from the lower passenger side of the dash. I seems to be coming from the area of the heater/ac box. It's not related to the heater motor. No change when heat/ac is off or on or when fan speed is changed. There is no distinct pattern of the noise. It sounds like someone blowing bubbles in a cup, but with more of a click type noise.

Any ideas?

Have you checked the coolant level?

I usually check it when I change the oil. I thought it had an indicator light to show when it's low. I'll take a look. Thanks.

Indicator light comes on for a low oil level not for coolant. By the way when the light comes on it is usually too late: oil level dropped below 3 quarts which is very bad for the engine. Your bearings are starving for lubricant.

Check the coolant level in the expansion tank first. If god forbid it is empty, wait for the engine to cool off and open the radiator cap. It suppose to be full. Make sure you use only Honda approved fluids.

Good luck,
Sam

Coolant was OK. I found this posted on another site.

Doing some diagnostics...Long screw driver to components under dash to isolate noise...this little guy appeared to be the culprit.

The Blend control motor:

$238 list / $190 from my friendly local dealer (http://www.piloteers.org/forums/14-problems/20231-gurgling-grinding-under-dash-near-hvac-resolved.html#)...20 minutes laying upside down under the dash.

RESOLVED!

I hope it will work for you too.

Good luck,
