Hello,
In looking for an OBD-II code reader, I ran across a device called "obdcom".

http://www.obdcom.com/?gclid=CJrg1rCXwqICFR5ciAodOXW87w

I like the idea of using a laptop computer as this device appears to do. Also, makes for a low cost, as only software and interconnect cable is required.

Has anyone here purchased/seen/used this product and have any comments/opinions....?

Thanks...!

Welcome to the forum T-birdy. If you just want to read codes then save your money and go to AutoZone or other auto parts stores that will give you a free print out of any codes stored in your computer. If you want the other bells and whistles then read this. http://www.asashop.org/autoinc/june2001/techtotech.htm. One of the big things to check about is the price of software updates that usually come out every year. The OBDCOM looks like it has free software updates but you should find out for how long. Another thing to consider is having a laptop sliding around on the seat while you drive unless you are only going to plug into it at your kitchen table. The price is right but I'd still check the web for the many others available. Hopefully someone else checking your thread owns a OBDCOM and will give us their opinion. Good luck with your search! Update: I just read some more about the OBDCOM and it has to be connected to the laptop while using it so my comment about the laptop sliding around is something to consider. Other units can gather the data and then get plugged into the laptop at a later time.
