Took my, 97 Intrepid 3.3 base model, in for a Visual front suspension inspection to meineke cause I kept hearing a clunking sound on the front passenger side when I go over pot holes. They said I need a new sub frame bushing, bolt, and mount. (sub frame to body frame, behind front passengers side wheel and door)They said they couldn't do it and to take it to a body shop. Went to a few and they didnt even get up and look it over, just said $600-$800. It would be better to scrap the car, it isn't worth it! Don't really want to do that as there is nothing else wrong with it. Replacing the bushings and bolts isn't a big deal, but what about the mounts? I've never done anything with mounts before.

But on closer inspection the "reinforcing disc" (as the guy at the dealer called it, when I called looking for parts) looks ok, it's rusty and has a crack on the edge but its intact and holding the sub frame up. The bolt head is intact and so is the washer, it isn't bending or pushing up through the disc. As far As I can see it's just the bottom bushing thats completely gone. The guy at meineke really freaked me out talking about how the engine could fall right out and cause a crash if I drive it at all. So just to be safe I parked it, Even tho the other 3 mounts and bushings are fine. I did spray paint the sub frame and mount and drove it slowly on side streets, to see where exactly it is hitting and the only place where the paint was removed was where the bottom bushing was. the reinforcing disc had moved to the side alittle leaving a clear unpainted line. What do yall suggest?

Ok nevermind, talked to a buddy of mine and he helped me out by welding everything up, He said it wasnt as bad as the mechanic made it out to be.
