I go to school in Tallahassee and went to my local shop today, to see what kind of price they could give me for a b18b(teg ls) engine swap into a 97 civic dx. First off, it's the only true import shop for a good amount of distance, which might have something to do with the high price(to me). Anyways, the guy said anywhere from $3500-4000 incl. labor. This is out the door; start-up and 30-day warranty; ya know, all that good stuff. He said it was 700 for labor if I had my own engine, but none of the warranty stuff. Can anyone let me know if this is a good deal (the 3500-4000 price tag)? Also, if anyone's from Central Florida (mainly Orlando), and can refer me to any reputable shops, that'd be a help; I'll be there for the entire summer. Thanks in advance for your advice!

thats how much my local shop charged for a b16a and just a little more for a gsr. if it was 2800-3000 then probably but not for 3500-4000. if thats the case you can just get a gsr at hmotorsonline.com and with the $700 labor the total will come out to around $4k or you can get a b16a sir2 for $2300 + $700 labor and that will come up to 3k.

hell no that's not a deal. I paid $4000 OTD for my B16A SiRII Series-5 motor. Which included the price of the engine, labor, act clutch and 8lb flywheel.

is that just for the engine, or the full swap? Either way, it isn't a good deal, but if it doesn't even include the ECU, tranny, axles, linkages, and all the other misc. stuff you need to go along with it, I would definately tell that dude he's lost his mind to try and pull that on you.

Down in Miami...if you have the time drop down here, very reputable shop. Getting my A2 for 3600 w/ LSD. . Probably seen them selling full front JDM clips on eBay. They're called "RACEUP"

dam, some prices are ridiculous, the ls motor runs for $1700 and gsr motor can be bought for $2500 now days in socal. only the type-r engine goes for $4000 which is already too pricey. just swap in the engine yourself, do some research, it's simple since there's no vtec involve. this way, you save $300-700 from labor charge depending on location.
