Timing belt tensioner broke while driving 65mph on the highway. Belt is intact. I moved the crank to a position where i know it wouldnt interfer with valve movement and attempted to rotate the intake and exhause cam gears.
intake cam gear is very hard to turn and jerks/springs into position
exhaust can does about same thing but after it springs into place its got alot of free play.
Im assuming i have alot of bent valves but what is the chances that there is no holes in the pistons or that the head is repairable?
If its done for i dont want to waist the time to pull the head off.

My opinion is that you will need to take head off to determine what can and cannot be repaired. You could have gotten lucky and just need a head or valves. Have you pulled the valve cover just to see top of head?
