do i have a vacuum leak?zink08 06-16-2010, 07:33 PM I hear a vacuum-like noise under the hood of my 97 Tacoma only when accelerating. When I shift, the noise dies until I speed up for a second or 2. I noticed cracked hoses connected to my PWM valve sensor, cut the tips, re-attached them, and added electrical tape and plastic ties. The noise was gone completely for about a day, then came back. It sounds to me like the noise is now coming from around the engine, as opposed to around the PWM sensor at the periphery. About 6 months ago I had a check engine code for excessive flow through the EGR valve, but it went off within a few days. Since I currently have no check engine light and no problems idling, could the EGR valve be to blame? Should I just change the hoses anyway? Because I don't hear the noise at idle, would it be worth spraying the throttle body/intake manifold with carb cleaner, or would I likely not hear it anyway? Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2013
