my manager at work left work like 30 seconds after i did and caught up to me and lined up at the red light just past work and he revved and me and im like what the hell i know ill lose but i like racing so i nodded my head and the light turned green.. i had a TERRIBLE start, damn clutch is starting to go out so unless i rev like 3000rpm and dump the clutch and spin the tires a little ill start out like a grandma... anyway he beat me like i was going downhill redlining in reverse. i knew i was going to lose but damn i lost sooooo bad. we line up at the next redlight and go at it again, didnt lose by nearly as much this time cuz my start was a lot better but i still got my ass handed to me.

lol, oh well, motorcycles are supposed to hand car owners their asses on a silver platter. I tried racing home the oldest and crappiest of motorcycles, it must have been a 20 year old honda cruiser, and it still whooped my ass so bad.

If your not in some hyper exotic you have no chance against even the most "average" bikes out there. But, like you said, it can still be fun to try :)

not always true...

my friend's 03 GTi dub (1.8t chipped) beat a steet bike (import, not domestic bike) to 70...

if only i had the video to prove it...

i somehow doubt that was a high performance bike or maybe he was not racing cuz those bikes are insane. i was looking at the specs on a 1L aprilia and it could make the 1/4 in the freaking 9's stock.

carmack the guy that owns Id sofware has a custom TT F50 (Ferrari) and he claimes that he fights with crotch rockets but he freakin uses an isane car

the bike he raced was a japanese street bike, and dude had a girl on the back...
i'm not doubting both sides...
sounds odd to me, but hey...

i just call it like i see it, and i saw it.

Even the suckiest of the crotch rockets is in the 12's....:flipa:

did i say crotch rocket?
did you read that there was a chick on the back?

that adds at least 100 lbs. to the power to weight ratio...

and that slows you down...
and you can't haul ass as quick with 2 people on the bike...

so it's entirely feasible...

:flipa: < was that necessary?

Venger10
05-06-2003, 05:34 PM
:flipa: <<< thats what he was doing to you....

And crotch rockets can hold 2 people....

And even normal street bikes like Valkyries are in the high 13's:alien:

flylwsi
05-06-2003, 05:47 PM
can you read?
i'm not questioning whether they can take 2 people.

i'm not talking about a valkyrie.

i'm talking about a 600 that's not a rocket, per se.

i'm well aware that you can put 2 people on a bike.

that changes the power to weight, 1/4 times, etc.

so it's pretty damn feasible.

anything else?

If the bike was a twin/cruiser and only like 600ccs with a girl on the back, the bike should have had the jump through about 50mph then the car would roll him from there. If the bike was a 1200cc+ which it probably was, he may not have known your friend was racing, but after your guy took off he decided to show his power/weight. I have that happen all the time, cars just decide to fly off the line (maybe not racing just hauling ass) so I have to give it a late gun, which usually takes almost all of 1st gear to catch the car on my cruiser. When I have a passenger though I don't race, or atleast not off the line, because 2up launches can be very sticky and fling ya.

not sure what you're looking at, but we're on topic...

he may not have known your friend was racing

was not a 1200.
i'm talking 600 cc sport touring, looks like a rocket, less fairing.

he knew he was racing.
he was egging my friend on, and his gf was doing the same...

what else do you want me to say?
i don't have a video, so you can go with what i'm saying.

it happened.
i don't necessarily doubt anything anyone has said, and i myself find it a little odd, but he can drive, and it was obvious the guy on the bike couldn't (with a passenger)

Taking a bike off the line is pretty crazy! And like R1 said, the rider may not have launched hard at all because it's pretty hairy to launch with another person on the bike.

Venger: Chip for the 1.8T does wonders for that engine.

And I think Venger is referring to a sport-type motorcylce when he says "crotch rocket"

The amazing thing is, you can get a brand new R1 that'll run 9's for about the price of a brand new baseline honda civic:D

Yes, the trick is affording the insurance, and cemetary space.

Honda CBR 600RR, it is an insane bike.

This past weekend I went to a drag race over in Kansas city,MO they had Motorcycles and Drag bikes. there were two type of susuki's the 600 and my dads gsxr 1000 which could smoke two of the drag bikes ass's.

Dude if the guy on the bike was messing with your friend he might not have known how to ride the bike well. You have to remember its all on how the rider drives his bike. But a 600 anything suzuki, honda, whatever should be able to beat that car even with 2 people on it. My dads friends were messing with a Toyota supra twin turboed (not stock) and a z06 corvette also not stock. Those cars can fucking fly. The 600 smashed those guys.

i'm well aware and stated that myself...

Um yeah..what else is a Japanese street bike...

they're not all rockets.
if that's the mindset you have, that's cool.

the bike i'm referring to is considered a "grand touring" bike, not a rocket.
it's not a cruiser, but it's sure not a rocket.

All I can say is , your bud with the "chipped" GTi , got lucky pickin on a loaded bike , 'cause a lone rider woulda handed his ass to him...

did i say that he would beat the bike with just a rider?
i'm well aware that he would get beaten...

why do i bother...

If its not a street bike which is the same as a rocket. Then its just a road bike. Those though aren't so fast most of them at least.

something like a suzuki sv1000s...
or a ducati monster, or a honda 919..

there's an article on "naked" bikes in cycle world's june 03 issue...
take a look and see what i'm talking about...

street_racer_00

Still, even the cruiser bikes are fast enough to beat most cars.

I would just bet that the driver of the motorcycle bogged the launch, it happens alot when you have another person on the back and try to launch it the same way you would with just you on it. 2up launches can get really crazy because your passenger is basically putting all their weight on the rear tire, you can launch REALLY hard if you know how, but for the most part it is safer just to start out riding the clutch.

Anything is possible. Its not the specs of the car or bike that wins a race - its the drivers.

Reminds me of a story...

When the body was created... The Brain wanted to be the boss. Well so did the hands, the legs, the eyes, and even the butt wanted to be the boss. For several days they all argued over who was the better boss. Finally, the butt said "Listen you better make me the boss or else" All the other parts said "Or Else what?" The butt simply replied "Or I'll stop working." The other parts didnt listen and kept arguing. And so the butt stopped working like promised. Soon after the things started to back up... and the legs bowed in at the knees... the hands shaked.. the eyes crossed.. the brain froze... eventually they all gave in and made the butt the boss and things returned to normal.

Morale of the story: You don't have to be the brains of the outfit to be the boss. Any Asshole will do.

yeah well...

i'd rather be the "dick" than be dicked.

and come on, it's all about the money...

i don't care what other people say if i'm heading a company and making the money...

they can say what the want, but they still have to get a check from me, with my signature on it...
