Honda STEPWGN Custom - Fujimi 1/24Macio4ever 06-14-2010, 03:53 PM This is my new "freestyle" project. I decided to experiment and do some scratchbuilding to convert boring Honda in more eye catching car. I also plan to test some new paints and techniques. The models is Fujimi kit - Honda STEPWGN in 1/24 scale. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/00.jpg Simple and not particulary attractive car has been put into hands of japaneese tuner... The plan - New, bigger rims (Enkei GTC-01) - Big (racing NSX) brake discs - tinted glasess - aero kit - prismatic paint (Alclad saphire) - sport double exhaust - similar to Honda Accord TypeR Original wheels http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/01.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/02.jpg Body sanded http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/03.jpg Unmodified chasis http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/04.jpg Silencer and exhaust removed. I will build new one when I fit in suspension and aero parts. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/05.jpg New wheels http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/06.jpg Front suspension (Fujimi) modified using discs (Tamiya) and wheels (Aoshima) http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/07.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/08.jpg All done http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/09.jpg New wheels http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/10.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/11.jpg I have started building new aero kit. I will make fenders wider to fit new wheels and I will try to create something sporty. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/12.jpg Before any putty work I will build construction of bare plastic which I belive make the whole process easier. When basic shape will be ready I will do some check outs with the wheels and will see what else can be done. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/13.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/14.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/15.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/16.jpg I am pretty happy with the current outcome. Front bumper is not finished yet - only lowered. I think I will modify whole front, make air intake wider (a bit like Evo X). ravan17 06-14-2010, 04:58 PM it looks great potsie 06-14-2010, 10:08 PM Great start. These people mover kits are crying out for the "tuner" treatment. 91p10nizmo 06-15-2010, 04:10 AM Even what you have so far has transformed it heaps and it looks alot better all ready. Drift F.C 06-15-2010, 04:26 AM Even what you have so far has transformed it heaps and it looks alot better all ready. :iagree: - Couldn't have said it better myself! luchoteam 06-15-2010, 09:43 AM Strange model you pick! Macio4ever 06-19-2010, 11:53 AM Wolf95 06-19-2010, 03:30 PM Go honda heads!!! nice creation so far. willimo 06-19-2010, 10:45 PM Cool! You don't see these that often. Great work so far, the fenders and bumpers are coming along well. Can't wait to see more! Macio4ever 06-20-2010, 02:31 PM How do you think which bumper's air intake looks better - left or right? http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/20.jpg ales 06-20-2010, 02:39 PM Right Wishieftrottle 06-20-2010, 03:05 PM right Drift F.C 06-21-2010, 02:09 AM Right also! Simas17 06-21-2010, 05:28 AM Right ! luchoteam 06-21-2010, 09:12 PM Another vote for the "right" version :iceslolan Macio4ever 06-22-2010, 01:13 AM All right :) Thank you for the responses - it seems that build must go right! ;) countach79 06-22-2010, 04:28 AM just for good measure, i will throw in a " right " aswell! opelix 06-22-2010, 10:13 AM Right one's better. I think that the spoiler is missing some intakes also. Macio4ever 06-27-2010, 05:42 AM There is still a lot of sanding... but the basic shape is done. I think that I will install additional fog lights in the front bumper. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/21.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/22.jpg luchoteam 06-27-2010, 10:43 AM I like it...but i guess that with the fog light it will look a lot better, also you can put 3mm white leds inside the fogs and you will have real lights. Keep posting, and good luck! Macio4ever 07-18-2010, 09:22 AM Some progress... Still a lot of sanding is ahead of me. Putty work it's not that easy as I thought :) http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/23.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/24.jpg Rear tire not in line - it is only dry fitted not glued. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/25.jpg HA2003 07-18-2010, 10:05 AM cool stuff man :loser: Macio4ever 07-25-2010, 01:58 PM New exhaust system for better performance :) http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/26.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/27.jpg Tompidom 07-25-2010, 05:26 PM Nice exhaust man. I would say go bigger but if you like it keepm. Macio4ever 09-05-2010, 06:28 AM Some painting progress pictures. I have to figure out how to take pics of Alclad Prismatic to show color change. Bonnet looks strange - paint has very little (in scale) particles but it reflects light so strong that looks bad. Next pics will be better... Started with Tamiya Dark Mica Blue http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/28.jpg Painted with Alclad and 2k clear http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/30.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/29.jpg Simas17 09-05-2010, 08:32 AM Thats really great color :) hirg 09-05-2010, 10:16 AM The paint is AWE SO ME!!!! luchoteam 09-05-2010, 04:17 PM wow! crazy color! i love it Macio4ever 09-19-2010, 05:28 AM Interior is done - simply OOB. I have added Honda logo on steering wheel. Panited with Tamiya Semi Gloss Black thinned with Gunze Leveling Thinner. Seats - mix of grey and medium blue. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/31.jpg hirg 09-19-2010, 07:46 AM Good, good, GOOOOOD!!! Macio4ever 09-19-2010, 01:31 PM Half an hour of masking and 2 minutes of painting... Anyway - chroming is done. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/32.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/33.jpg luchoteam 09-19-2010, 03:45 PM Great details! Macio4ever 09-26-2010, 06:55 AM Another small update. I am not happy with tinted winodws (Tamiya smoke) and I will try foil for "big cars" next time. H emblem and Mugen Power from Crazy Modeler set. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/34.jpg http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/35.jpg Macio4ever 10-03-2010, 10:41 AM So close to the end. Spazstix tint has eaten Fujimi plastic and that's why rear side windows are so dark (I have darken them to reduce problem with Spazstix). http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b22/Macio4ever/Honda%20STEPWGN/36.jpg Macio4ever 10-03-2010, 04:26 PM Tompidom 10-04-2010, 08:54 AM I like the small mods youve made to the body! I bought it only because it was so cheap. But now you turned it into a little piece of art. Now my question: what did actually eaten the windows? A tint foil or a paint?
