Transmission shift cable bracket

I'm trying to change the transmission fluid & filter but, when I took a look at the bolts, they are all 1/2" except two 10mm bolts that hold the shift cable.
These two bolts go through the brack and transmission pan into the body of the transmission.
The bolts are rather long, one will back out and clear the cable but, the second bolt is right above the transmission cable and if I try to back it out it won't make it past the transmission cable and the bulky connector that the bracket is holding.
After thinking about it a while, I thought that the bracket might be slotted so that I can loosen the bolt and slide the bracket away from the pan.
Unfortunately, the bracket isn't slotted and I see no apparent way to remove the cable from the bracket to gain the necessary clearance so I can get the bolt out. I can't even get my socket head onto the bolt because the shift rod is so close to the transmission pan.

How do I get the shift rod out of the way of the bolt so I can drop the pan?
