D16Z6 Rebuild Advicegags 05-05-2003, 12:14 PM I have a 93 Civic si...I'm going to have the original D16Z6 rebuilt very shorlty and have a limited bugdet. I would like to get opinion and suggestions as to a few things I can do to add a little performance. Thanks gags shmaptoe 05-06-2003, 02:05 AM if u are talkin about internals- try the zex 59300 street/strip cam. you can run stock valvetrain with it as long as u dont go above redline. i believe the cam is dynoed at around a 14 whp gain and it costs around 250 give or take. also look around for the skunk2 intake manifold- that damn thing should be out soon if it isnt already and i heard the gains are supposed to be good for the couple hundred bucks it should cost. wheel1856 05-06-2003, 08:19 PM you need to talk to a man by the name of civicHBsi91 candlaudio 05-06-2003, 10:42 PM well first you could have the head shaved, then i would have the block bored and get bigger pistons but for the honda motor i dont believe you can go no higher than 20 thousandths on the bore but you might wanna check that, um like the other guy said you could go with a better cam and i would also do a port and polish. dont know if that helps but there ya go wheel1856 05-07-2003, 08:31 PM yep, a P&P and some internals work could really help, BUT, if you ever wanna go turbo in the future, a P&P cuts out the ability to do so. A P&P could run you about a grand, but it makes for some nice work. if you're on a budget, standard issue Intake, Header, Exhaust along with some pulley kits would be a good way to start. not alot of power added, but can be, not always, but can be less expensive than most mods. depends on what you want. if you're getting the motor overhauled, it'll run like new. I would go with candlaudio's adivce, unless you want a turbo in the future, because with the engine apart for re-building, it would be a good time to get head work and cylinder bores done. liquid8 05-07-2003, 10:54 PM you can get a port and polish and still get turbo wheel1856 05-08-2003, 02:59 AM how so? I've always heard that once you get the P&P you cant get a turbo because everything is so much thinner...so would you sleeve the cylinders and hope the head holds? wouldnt sleeving after a P&P be kinda pointless? Im not being a wise ass here, I really dont know, learn me. I always thought that once you got a port and polish, you were screwed for a turbo. civicHBsi91 05-08-2003, 09:54 PM .....guy looks like he joined and left.....if he comes back ill throw my opinion in the mix SiRII 05-09-2003, 02:34 AM anything sleeved to 11-13:1 c.r. will kick some serious ass. hey, where are you from. i know a guy who just built up a d16z6. and is sleeved to 13.0:1 c.r. with head work and pistons and knife edge crank. and he's asking for 1800 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
