Well I thought I heard it was and I have a Mopar Magazine that says it is, here's what they said:

The hood scoop is functional, sort of...it ducts fresh air back to the turbo housing. But the engineers conveniently added a duct in the underhood skin to allow one simple hole to be cut, then a piece of pinch weld weather stripping seals the ducting against a hole which can be easily cut in the airbox. Voila! Air grabber!

There's what they said, also, they say that it has 280 hp, because they said it would take that much power to accelerate 3300 pounds, which was their test weight with two people in there.

Sure, I have seen it. I can't believe Dodge is actually making a Neon over 200HP.:hehehe:

Well Dodge prefers it not be called a Neon, but most people are smart enough to make the assumption that it is close to one. Anyways, there are Neons with enough power to beat a Viper in a 1/4 mile, that's a quick Neon.

Where have you seen the new Neon running 11's, that would beat a Viper. The only trials I've seen are 14's. Or were you talking about a blown dragster w/ slicks w/ a neon body on it?

I do not think he was talking about a factory Neon
being able to beat the Viper in the quarter mile. :)

This is kind of spontainious and kind of off-topic, but the yellow painted Neon ruins the ad. Dodge's color is red, and you should keep the cars uniform in ads, all different or all the same. But I'm not in advertising or anything, just my 2 cents.

I actually like the SRT-4 in just about every way except that it looks like a Neon. It's too bad that they couldn't have redesigned the body just a little bit more to move itself further from the rental-car look category. It is unfortunate that this is how (it seems) a lot of people think of Neons, because they seem like decent cars to me. :(

i was thinkin the same thing....i would have went with a body change for the srt-4.....probably just named it srt-4 instead of neon srt-4

Transmission Base Enthusiast Performance Touring Track
Automatic (lb.) No Data 3210 No Data 3239 No Data
Manual (lb.) 3188 3197 3217 3247 3225
Carpoint.com shows no data for the weight of the SRT-4. The regular Neon ranges from 2,581 to 2,712 lbs. I do know that Dodge made a great effort to keep the weight down, so it'd have a quick time, so perhaps it weights even less. Anyone have any info?

I just read an article in the newspaper here a few week's ago about that.
They are trying to attract the younger people to buy the Neon, and apparently, where I live, anyway, I've noticed that alot of the younger kid's in their 20's like the bright yellow on any vehicle. :sunglasse
