Still have an Idle problem....

I still have an Idle problem with my 91' corsica. It has the 3.1L. I have no Idea what the problem could be. I have checked and rechecked all the vac lines, and various other things. Any trouble shooting ideas would be helpful. I am trying to get something I have yet to try that will hopefully help me narrow this down. Thanks

I had one of these and usually the culprit was the IAC control (Idle air control) valve as it would carbon up and cause poor idle. It has two screws to remove, clean it carefully, clean the area it sits in, be sure no holes in intake hose, and you should be good to go. If you notice a "miss" at idle you could have a weak coil that would cause one cylinder to miss at idle.

While there, it would also be good to clean the throttle body and idle air passages.

Is the ECM storing any error codes?

Thanks. I will give that a try and get back to you. I have a month before it has to be operational so I got some time. And it has yet to spit any codes at me because my battery was unplugged for awhile and it has yet to see the road.

Screw the idle air control plunger in, mine lanched on me. I found it and screwed it in with the spring. Doubt it's factory specks in length, but my car now idles perfect. no more "start die start die":runaround:

jsgold,
Thank you for the input. I cleaned the IAC and housing and it now idles like a champ.

Thanks again.

If you know brake systems well I posted another thread concerning the issue.
