Anyone know what this message means on a 98 Eldo? I changed the Steering pump out and nothing changed, the PS seems okay but the message center is displaying a message to service the steering system. Beats me, I've never seen that on any car and didn't know you could even "service" the system. To me that means perhaps changing the oil, but that seems odd. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

It needs to be scanned to look at bcm codes, then you can get a better diagnosis rather than guess at it.

Thanks. I spoke to the Caddy dealer and he says the message is due to a bad sensor most likely, seems the sensor picks up and senses the steering wheel position in case the car skids, the info is fed to the computer and in turn adjusts the ABS to right the car. Does anyone know where the sensor is and have ever replaced it? I probably won't worry about it since we don't do a lot of skidding but it'd be nice to have everything working for when we sell the car. Anyone want to buy it? Black 98 Eldo with 100k miles, still pretty nice too!

If you don't have your own manual, I would suggest going to the local library and looking at the Chilton manual(if they have one on the shelf). It should have that information.

Another source is the Auto Zone web site. Not only do they sell parts, but in many cases, they post the instructions on how to replace them along with some schematics showing the locations.

One of these sources should help you out.
