I have a 2001 venture with fresh tranny rebuild good shifts and solid all the way through, but at 55 to 60 mph I get an intermittent lunge its slight but its very annoying more than anything. I thought it was a miss but checked out and no miss. Replaced plugs and wires with ac delco parts still have lunge with no light on . Until just recently got ses light said to be egr voltage value problem. In shop now and they cleaned the valve and passages but said to be very clean already. Has anyone had this problem or another related to it?

Could be a bad coil or ICM, might be a bad valvebody in the Transmission.

Maybe when it was rebuilt, something pertaining to the torque converter clutch was overlooked, or possibly install incorrectly??? It seems odd that this problem just began after the trans was rebuilt, that's why i would start looking into TCC.

Update!!!!!! Ok they replaced egr valve with delco unit but no help to problem. Now the ses light back on for heater in o2 sensor replaced o2 sensor light is gone still have same lunge or fishbite at cruising speed. Took back to shop he checked for ground issues or pinched wires around tranny , he thought maybe he could have pinched wires or forgot a ground strap but all good. So following day he comes in to work and hooks up scanner to drive it and monitor some info and the battery is dead wont even fire up the scanner so he replaces battery drives for close to 150 miles and no lunge or anything!! So I go pick it up first trip home goes sweet no lunge or anything even with a/c on no problems. Second day feel what seems to be same problem once or twice but very faint this time. Third day seems to be happening a little more now, then that night oh man it just went back to problem without warning and worse it has ever been it is a lunge at a with very repetative timing. So i get home check the battery for voltage thinking that maybe there is a draw on the battery and has pulled it down but the voltage is fine with engine off and 14.20 running so here i am now?:mad:

Well it lunges forward but doesnt really miss per say just a rythm of lunges once it starts doing it.maybe 5 -10 seconds in between lunges and they are all the same magnitude of lunge just one after another and then it might just quit doing it for several miles then do it again!!!! it also normally begins when you aproach 50 mph cause from 50 - say 57 58 mph it is like you all of sudden hooked a load to the back of the van no misses no lunge the when you hit 57 or so it starts pulling like it was before it hit 50 mph and then it will start with the small lunges!!! This is grasping at straws here.. Do you have cruise control? Try disconnecting the cruise cable and give it a try.. ?maybe its stuck on all the time somehow????? Like I said , grasping at straws, good luck...

Try the drive in 3rd gear (D).

If it doesnt act up, try tapping the brake (just enough to light the lights or pull the brake switch out of the brake pedal assembly- this will disable the lockup of the torque converter.)

That sounds about like the problem I have been having with my 97 Venture. Mine does it on even the slightest incline when Im cruising anywhere between 45 and 70 mph. To me, it feels like a studder, as if the damn thing is going to die on me. I have no ses light coming on however. As far as I know, my battery is good. I was thinking to start off, I will change the spark plugs and wires then go from there. My dad, who does most of the work on this thing, thinks it may be the fuel pump. But is not sure because we have yet to get the fuel pressure tested. That could be a possibility...next time you take it in, try having them test the pressure in the fuel system. I know my fuel filter is not clogged and causing the issue, cause I changed that out myself and the problem still existed. I have also tried putting SEAFOAM in the gas tank when I filled it up last time, and so far so good. But, I have yet to test it out on a good hill. I have also noticed, that when I put cruise control on, I do not have the problem at all...keep me posted on this cause Im supposed to go out of town in a couple weeks, and would love to take my van, but with this problem I am not going to because we have a big hill to climb and I don't need it dying when I have no cell coverage to get help. :sly::eek7:

Chick, yours sounds like an issue with the valve body or solenoid or something.....

Ya maybe. We will be running through and replacing a few things over the next month or so and see what fixes the problem.

Have you tried a can of the trans fix stuff? Like TransX or something? Sometimes it can help, if there is varnish or improperly sealing seals.

Forget what I tried...but I did. No change...Im going to start with spark plugs and wired then go from there.

yea i thought that too but i changed the filter myself very recently and the mech said he drove it with a fuel pressure gauge and all was fine so he had the same thought too but to know avail. So im still havin the the same symptoms with know lights or any codes being set its crazy very crazy . But its intermittent thats the real crazy part if it was a tranny isuue then why does it come and go ? Im goin nuts with this thing!!!!
