SpookyReuben 11-04-2003, 05:24 PM For the engine... if you are looking perfermence, and have a big wallet, hypereutectic pistons are the way to go. They are made with silicone, so are very slippery, and reduces cylinder wall against piston friction significantly. Another advantage is that they have a higher melting point then every other type of cast, so you can really work them hard and they wont warp or melt. But, they are still cast, so should never be used with super or turbochargers, although I think you said before that you weren't getting either. They are a WAY better choice than forged if you have the money. SpookyReuben 01-28-2004, 12:37 AM high hp is going to be hard to reach, just because in 1966 leaded fuel was being used and it didnt take much to get high horsepower. parks911 03-12-2004, 06:11 PM Any updates on this car? GTOmmGood 04-03-2005, 07:46 PM Honestly, Im looking forward to being able to buy myself a 66-68 GTO. I'm only 17 and im not a car buff but I love GTO's. I understand restoring a car takes a lot of time, money, and effort but Im willing to learn or atleast sell my kidney for the money. Carbuilder 10-16-2008, 02:08 PM Can someone tell me if the REAL original color of the intake manifold on a 455 HO Ram Air 1971 GTO is natural aluminum or painted like the engine? MrPbody 10-17-2008, 01:30 PM Carbuilder, Painted like the engine. PM or e-mail me for more info on Pontiac restorations. Jim wafrederick 10-18-2008, 07:46 PM Get the valve seats get replaced with hardened valve seats. If you do not do it this way,you have to add a lead additive to the gas or the valve seats will get eaten up.For the truth, the tornado does not work and Consumers Reports said do not waste your money on this. maxwedge 10-19-2008, 09:02 AM Sorry guys this thread is waaaay toooo old.
