first i would like to say whats up to evryone. my question is this i have a d15b7 in my civic and i just bought a b16a off ebay and i was wondering if someone could tell me everything im gonna need to swap this out. it comes with the wiring harness and the ecu and i know i have to have a tranny but i need to know about axles and mounts and anything else i will need to purchase. also the motor is not gonna have a head so i am gonna get a good one and i was wondering if i could use a b18 head or just whatever would be the best choice. i will post some pics of the car this weekend.

check the search function "b16 swap" look in the FAQ and look at the links in both that lead to some how-to sites. you will need new axles, the linkage, don't know about the b18 head, might wanna replace the distributor, water pump, plugs and wires, clutch, usual wear and tear stuff associated with the motor.

good luck with the swap.

and welcome to AF!

if you're trying to put a b16a (1st gen JDM) in your 92 civic, then you will have some problems if the law finds out. first off, it is illegal to put an engine thats older than the chassis into the car. secondly, the b16a is an OBD0 engine and 92-95 civics are OBD1, so some conversion will have to be made.

The best b16 to swap into a 92-95 civic is the B16a2 from a 99-00 civic si and 96-97 del sol VTEC, or a b16a3 from a 93-95 del sol VTEC. then again, you might be talking about the SIRII B16A and in that case, i ran my mouth for nothing :bloated:

if it is a B16 (SIR) it has a cable clutch and your civic has a hydraulic thatll make it more difficult

well i dont know if this has anything to do with it but the motor has been dynoed recently and stock horsepower was 170 and wheel horsepower was 165 with right about 220 compression in all 4 cylinders. i guess i actually need to find out from the guy which b16 it is. thanks you guys for all the replys. also does anyone have any idea about what i could get for my motor tranny and ecu and harness? let me know cause i have no clue as to what to sell it for

honestly, if you're able to, I would keep the old engine, overhaul it as a hobby (lil time here, lil there) and hang onto it for a while. 1. (though you sound like you may already know a bit) its a great way to learn all about engines; 2. In case the motor bought from e-bay, a thought that makes me nervous, blows, you have a replacement without much hassle; and 3. you've got parts, granted, 9 of 10 of em won't fit the b16, but at least you've got bolts n such that will match.

just a thought. I plan on keepin my lil d15 when I put in my b16, just in case. having a spare engine on hand is quite the feeling of security.

if it's a first gen you just have to get the hydro tranny and some other things. http://www.hondaswap.com/swap/viewer.php?id=54 has a list of everything you would need.

umm......did i miss anything.......ok it DID dyno at 170 but it wont have a head correct?

yes it did dyno at 170 before he changed engines. he said the reason for getting rid of it was because he didnt like the v-tech but hey i really cant blame the kid for selling the head off it cause he got 600 for the head and he's only asking 400 for the block with the header and ecu and wiring harness...............also just for you guys to know right now all i have on my motor in my civic is a b18 header and a short ram air intake in which i think really sucks cause if you think about where the filter stops at it really doesnt make any since. its not called cold air intake for nothing and the short ram air intake stops close to the motor so i dont think im getting anything out of it.............and last but not least who could tell me what kinda horsies am i pushing with those things on there.

i personally dont think that my car is a ricer and if it is then so is yours and everyone elses so why you gonna down my shit........... i was kinda kidding, your interior to me looks like crap with 18 diff colors and im not a fan of altezzas so kinda looked like you were leanin towards the rice side there bud, my car is stock looking nothing "ricey" about it, didnt mean to hurt no feelings just stating my opinion

well you didnt hurt my feelings cause you have your own opinion and yes it does look retarded with the yellow floor mats and blue seat covers but that has changed cause i bought the car like that. but now the interior is silver and blue the dash is painted and the front door panels, and the seat covers are still there ( cause they are blue ) but im working on the engine now
