I am trying to troubleshoot a suspected electrical problem with the charging and alternator on a 3800 engine, the trouble is that the car is draining the battery, and not charging the system causing the car to run off the battery. The Alternator has been replaced, and tested 3 times, the battery is brand new and has been tested. I have checked most of the wireing I can get to and nothing appears to be open or shorted. I have used a meter and the one thing I noticed is that the single wire coming off of the alternator to the computer has about 2.1 Mohms resistance. I checked the same wire from the alternator connection to the bulk head connection and there is negligable resistance. Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated. should there be that much resistance from the bulkhead connection to the computer?

Hope you got it fixed by now. Was the alternator tested on or off the vehicle? With everything turned off, you may have a battery drain?
