dodge dakota 2002 4.7 auto

Have two problems 1st one is i have a 2002 dodge dakota with the 4.7 automatic trans and every now and then it has a mind of its own. it surges at idle at cold start the tack go's up and down just sitting then i give it gas and it comes out of it. now i found a vac leak at the evap can but that didnt fix my problem. what could make this truck rev up and down. i was thinking maybe a TPS or IAC i dont know at this point i just dont want to keep buying parts to fix the problem. now problem #2 when i got this truck i change the oil 1st thing. now truck only has 135000 miles on it now when i went to change the oil took off the oil filler cap and notice that it had a milkshake look or maybe a more foam look to the oil film sitting in the oil filler neck is this normal.

how did the oil look when you drained it? did it look the same as the filler cap? if it's black, I wouldn't sweat it, but if it's milky, you could have problems. Try replacing your PCV valve, it's supposed to help with engine oil foaming & prevent excess condensation in the lower crankcase assembly.

thanks i will try that and one more thing i noticed when i went to check the coolant overflow tank it didnt have the coolant dipstick in it so i went ahead and filled the coolant overflow and about a five to six weeks later the tank was low again. now could the missing dipstick have anything to do with it. now it has the cap just the dipstick for the coolants gone maybe its y my oil looks milky under the oil cap and filler neck but when i drain the oil it looks fine its black.:runaround:

The milky oil on the filler cap is most likely condensation building up. I wouldn't sweat it.

The losing coolant can be a myriad of things from a leaking water pump down to a head gasket.

Does it go away after warming up? If so, probably just lifters making noise until oil flow is well established.

Hello again new problems with 02 dakota 4.7 it has a knocking sound that wont go away. Its not really loud but with radio off its very noticeable and every time i give it gas at idle or just going down the road it falls on its face. Almost like its not getting enough fuel or something. It makes a weird sound up on acceleration as if its starving for air but if i rev it up really slow it will sound ok until i rump down on it. I need help with this thing i hope this made sense to someone.cause i just dont understand it.:confused:
