Brake Fluid in Power Steering, HELP!!!Jeeskate 04-20-2010, 01:48 AM HELP!!! I accidentally just put a bit (a couple gulps) of brake fluid into my power steering reservoir, and don't know what I should do! ... I was coming home from a friends and i knew i had to top up my power steering fluid before i left, but i accidentally grabbed the wrong yellow bottle when i was at the gas station, and didn't realize until after a few gulps but then i stopped and quickly added power steering fluid and drove home. it's now parked in my garage and i don't know what to do! Jeeskate 04-20-2010, 01:54 AM ... I tried to siphon whatever i can get out, but i didn't have a long enough to hose to reach down for enough to get any liquids at all! maxwedge 04-20-2010, 07:06 AM You need to flush the system, remove the return hose fom pump, block the port on the pump, run fresh p/s fluid into the pump and it will flush the old fluid into a catch can from the return line. Jeeskate 04-20-2010, 05:57 PM so my power steering fluid leaks (that`s why i gotta top it up (gotta get that fixed)) but anyways, i noticed today that underneath my jimmy there was a puddle, i wonder if that's brake fluid that might have leaked out? maxwedge 04-21-2010, 07:53 AM Smell it and see if it is the same as brake fluid, distinctive odor.
