1996 Blazer, swapping in a '95 engine

Hi, I'm swapping a 4.3L out of a 95 Blazer, w code I think, into a 1996 that I also think is a w code. I'm planning on using the intake and distributor from the '96, the timing covers look the same. Does anyone know if this'll work? I don't have the '96 out yet, but the '95 has a balance shaft and a side wired distributor. All that should be different is the intake and accessories, right?

Took a closer look and the heads on the two engines are different, (95 has older style intake bolts that go in at an angle and the 96 has the verticle bolts) so unless you want to swap heads too, it's a no go. The oil pans have to be switched as well, as the 95 is steel and the 96 is cast aluminum.

I believe I have read where there are also cam sensor differences etc. I don't think you can do a direct swap. 96 was the first year of the Vortec engine I believe.

Both are Vortec engines and both could be VIN "W" but the OBD systems are different. Will require swapping ECM's wire harness's both under hood and interior, most of the sensors, along with a host of other items. It can be done, but involves a ton of work, time and money. Might be best to look for a 96 or newer engine, it should go right in.
