2000 CVPI Ticking?

So, picked up a 2000 CVPI, pretty happy with it, engine sounded fine....just today I left work and noticed a ticking. Checked oil and it was quart low, so I threw some oil in thinking it would take care of the tick....nope? Some people are saying different things, searched all over crownvic.net but I can't post anything (their registration system is a joke)

Happens when I either rev the motor, or am driving normally, pretty much any time the engine is under a load. Idling it is quiet as can be, and if I take my foot off the accelerator.

...Any suggestions? JUST picked it up two days ago, will probably try an oil change, everybody is saying 5-30 for oil and a wix filter.

Didn't want to star another thread for this...

You may want to do a search for cleaning MAF sensors also. If MAF is reading wrong, that can be a symptom.

Take a stepiscope or long screw drive and hold it to your ear as the engine is running to find this noise .Broken exhaust stud at the head can give this noise as well as failing time chain guides. Try this first and anwser back .
