Hi all

I’m new here, I have a 2000 Bonneville with the 3800 NA and I believe the 4T65-E transmission car has 136,000 km. The problem I am having is the car accelerates very slow in forward gears, The engine is revving up at around 1800 to 2200 rpm then starts to move. Reverse gear works just fine. I am also getting a code P1860. The fluid is nice and red and topped up. The car has sat for about 3 years in a garage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to AF, sounds like it is starting in 3rd or default. Could be an issue with the solenoid pack.

Thanks for the reply maxwedge

Is the solenoid pack located behind the side cover? Could they be sticking from the car sittiing for the last 3 years. Any advice on what to try next.

Thanks again

Have you changed the tranny fluid after sitting that long?? I suggest that you use the Seafoam Tranny additive to see if that helps. I used it on a chrysler tranny that would hesitate to shift into forward or rev erse from par or neutral, added and never had a problem after that. I would drive it after adding for a few miles and if works drain fluid and change filter. I am sure some will disagree with this but my thoughts.

Yes behind the side cover, first check for a properly seated plug at the trans itself, could be some corrosion, then a full scan with a trans function scanner can command the solenoids and get a proper diagnosis.
