What's so great about a car with a turbo charged 2.4 beating a car with a turbo charged 2.0?
I should hope the car with the bigger, hence more powerful, engine would win, unless the driver was useless......

Fair point, a domestic beats an import......

SRT-4 with dealer delivery.....20270
WRX with dealer delivery.......25045

So for US$4500 more you get AWD......small trade......

I'll take the WRX anyway...I'm sure it handles better....and wtf are ya gonna do with 230+ HP in the SNOW in a FWD:flipa:

BTW , I'm sure the WRX launches better....can't beat AWD traction:alien2:

Actually, the spec I have on the car rates it at 215hp, a little less than the WRX at 227hp......

Thats 215 On the ground.......prolly 240 at the crank

For some reason..the WRX's specs are taken off the crank..... less than 200 Hp on the ground......

I was watchin Super 2NER TV and they said the SRT-4 has more power than what Dodge says.

I won't dispute the WRX, since I know it is less than 227hp at the wheels, but can you give us a link to where you got the specs on the Neon?
I have found it difficult to find a conclusive spec on the Neon.

It doesn't matter if the SRT4 have more power at the wheels as long as the WRX put more power to the ground.

Me neither....Just depends on where ya go......Most of the specs I've seen tend to hover in the 210 - 230 Hp range..... SCC says 215 on the ground...makes sense for about 240 or so at the crank

This is the one I have: http://www.fast-autos.net/dodge/srt4info.html

They give it as engine output it seems.....I guess it all depends on who is reading it and from where

Interesting that the 0 - 60 MPH time is listed as 5.9 secs....

The WRX sedan is 5.5...the Wagon is 5.8....... I don't see a WRX losing to the SRT anytime soon.....unless you are lazy on the clutch:finger:

I did a neat little mod to my WRX wagon.....for about $2 worth of vacuum line parts , I got 17 psi outta the turbo:D :D :D
Good enuff to run 95+ in the 1/4 , and burn all 4 tires at the launch.:bandit:
The SRT is a good CHEAP turbo car , tho......the WRX I had was about $8000 more...:bloated:

pretty much all advertised cars are rated from the factory at the crank, maybe u were confusing the neon's factory rated 215crankhp with its 240crank lb feet of torque?

nope.

scc and a few other mags have noted 220ish hp at the wheels.

and 250ish tq at the wheels.

it's underrated.

get over it.

Which brings it all back to my original statement about the fact that a car with a bigger engine should beat a car with a smaller engine.....provided they are both turbo charged as in this case.....

i don't see how that's embarrasing......like freakray mentioned "the fact that a car with a bigger engine should beat a car with a smaller engine"

now given all that u get with the WRX as compared to the SRT-4....i personally think u'd still be coming out better with the WRX overall....but that's just my opnion

Did you consider that the more expensive car is an import and the cheaper one a domestic......
Looking at it from that perspective, and considering that you are paying for an AWD drivetrain on the more expensive one, US$4500 more for the imported AWD is NOT that much......

In the comparison between the 2, which I DID do this morning when I made the previous post about the difference in cost, I also noted the WRX comes with more safety features, like side impact airbags, that the Neon doesn't.....

So, in summary......for your $4500 more, you get a car with better gas mileage, better handling and all-weather traction(which in the Northern states of America and Canada is a big factor), and you get more safety features......seems like a deal to me :)

Someone else mentioned this, but isn't it strange that Dodge seems to be openly condoning street racing with this type of commercial?

wow, i knew it was underrated from the factory, and was expecting some extra hp at the crank

but jeez, never thought itd be dynoing that much at the wheels

btw, i am over it :p

correct me if i'm wrong... but since someone said it is a dodge commercial... woud anyone really expect a DODGE to lose a race in a DODGE commercial? that's just IMO though.. i mean ifi was trying to see a product iwouldn't portray it losing to a compeditor... i mean that kism makes sence to me... but like io said... please correct me if i'm wrong. :eek7:

I will, because I have seen a couple of video of people being beaten by an SRT-4 in their WRX. The WRX always seems to get the jump on them but the SRT-4 just comes back and walks away. Those weren't commercials either. Sorry, but it's the truth.

lets see some 1/4m ETs and MPH. all this looks good on paper, whats the real world aftermath????

Beanboy
06-11-2003, 01:52 PM
Real world? SRT-4s are running 13.9-14.1 at 97-101 mph stock.

Stage 1 for $400 is out now.

Additional 25HP and 25 lbs-ft of torque.
