Okay now an exhaust is rice? What company out there makes a small muffler other than Spoon or Mugen? Even Mugen's muffler is pretty big so Mugen, Tanabe, Apexi, Skunk2, RS*R, and Greddy are all rice now? Sh*t. I guess I'm a damn ricer. :lol2:

Im really hating those fart cans more and more as the years go by. They think they some hot shyt too I mean revving the hell out of the engine at red lights in traffic jams ---al this revving just to move the car like 10 feet:rolleyes: Like that ish sounds goood Vreeeeeem Vreeeemmm my Briggs and Stratton 4 hp lawn mower sounds more intimidating. So its nice quiet ride until I step on it and then it really gets loud. Anyway ricer just looks at me cracks a smile stares at the dubs for a little , light changes green and I take off all nice and slow cause I dont race anyway just wanted to see if He would stomp on it like a dumb ass. Well He looked intimidated when he did the most slowest roll take off in a most, " I dont want to mess with you manner." Ahhhh I love messing with ricers.

First of all, the CRX probably only had a body kit on it. If you didn't notice by the primer, he doesn't exaclty have the money to build on the engine, much less to buy a Legend. I was riding with my friend in his Eclipse, with his "fart-can" exhaust and we pulled up next to an Acura Legend who also had his car fixed up. Light turned green and my friend smoked him so bad it looked like the Legend was standing still in awe and amazement of what he had just seen. Sad thing is my friend hasn't done anything to his engine. He cut off his air filter box and put on an exhaust. I thought it was funny. So if you don't get the message, the exhaust adds a little extra horses, plus if you get the right one it sounds pretty sweet. I've seen a Supra, dual exhaust, dual "fart-cans" and it sounded deeper than a V-8 camaro with Borla exhaust.

for a while people have just been buying exhausts and they've been coming with that awful sound...but itz until recently that we have a choice as to what kind of sound we want....mine personally has a deep wide sound....but i don't rev at lights...that's just:bloated: unless itz to a friend:D but the exhausts are just something that gives a lil more hp.....same as with flowmaster exhausts for domestics....seeing as u change change it....get over it and stop complaining....but u have the right to:argue:

I'm with you, reving at lights is basically stupid unless you know the person or if you and the other person are about to burn. There are some idiots out there buy an exhaust and go for the high pitched pissed off weed-eater sound, which is basically a waste of money. It does nothing for their engine, plus makes them look stupid. Just pay a few more dollars and get a high quality exhaust with a better sound.

My question is in regaurds to the big tail pipes are you all refering to the annoyiong rezzanators (SP?) or the true blue exaust systems?

I went hollywood pipes from the cat-back a.k.a straight pipes and then got a reasonable open muffler to quiet the sound and welded it to the straight pipes. It's not loud or an amazing fart cannon but I wanted to free up some of the torque in the accord. Plus I'm obsessed about curb weight and I gutted my car and removed about 150 lbs...the exhaust i put on was about 10lbs lighter. So that means that the stock exhaust is 10 pounds too heavy in my case. If you get a honda accord down to 2700 lbs it starts to stop better and accelerate quicker (every lb counts). I definitely hate the exhausts that sound like someone set a chainsaw loose in the engine or a bumble bee rattle, but let people fuck up there cars. I mean we don't have to drive around in them everyday. So if everyone jumped off a bridge would I? Of course I would there would be nobody fuckin left.

Just to make a note some of the Formula/Indy cars are really small engines that produce 800-1000hp range(mega honda and toyota rice). So technically you can get a small engine to produce a lot of power. Although in order to believe that you have to get past your ignorance. I'll let you get back on your way with the NOVA you seem to be going places and I'd rather not impede you.

name one performance exhaust system that doesn't have a bigger sized muffler. i've got a greddy evo and i think it's kick-ass.

I've got the full exhaust system (headers to muffler) and I love it. It isn't annoying like some of the homemade fart cans of course. Most of those are on the smaller hondas too...I've got an Accord, so the sound is a tad deeper.

Also, aside from extra HP (Yes, it does make a difference), it also gives better mileage.

Actually I have to agree with the much hated Ryan.... what all has been done to get a 1.5 liter to 800 hp, And don't flame me for having a domestic, I am really curious of what it has and what it take to get an engine that small that fast (not the mention the cost and custom parts). I don't think I have ever heard any thing that small being that powerful.

You actually believe that the size of the chassis has anything to do with the tone??? :rofl: It's about the engine intake/exhaust flow and the determining factor on tone is the diameter of piping and muffler.

The stock S2000 exaust weighs almost 50 pounds, ive heard of people replacing these with a 6 pound exaust from veilslide. that is insane. the only problem is it makes a racket. Sure, most of these guys are just making their car sound big, but give some cred to the guys who are going for weight and performance.:biggrin:

actually yes the intake, exhaust flow and diameter all aid in the tone...but it's also that the Accord is a 2.2 L "larger" engine. The civic is a little more raspy cause it is a lil engine that could. That's why V8's with "them side dump boys" are so loud, cause it's twice the size and twice the combustion.

I think Accord Zero was refering to the size of the engine...not the length.

300hp+ is USELESS in a FF unless youre running super slicks in the front.

and 1000hp cars are REALLY kinda common now. Almost every major garage in japan has a 1300hp skyline or supra.

I just dont get it, I dont know too much about rice, but I do know for a v8 muscle car a 2.5" exhaust will sustain 600+ rwhp easily. WHY in for gods sake would you need a 3" exhaust for a puny 1.8L, I mean cmon, I have sodas in the fridge with more liters than that.

as for the topic itself, someone asked why in the world would a small motor use such big piping? well, u are correct in assuming that a LOT of them are ricers who believe they'll free up more power w/ the bigger exhaust, but the ones that i know w/ 2 1/2-3 in piping are all FI cars running 15-20 psi on their talons or tegs etc...

to the same person, yes torque is VERY important in a race, and hondas have none. wut they do have is the ability to rev insanely high and produce high enough hp numbers in a light weight car to run respective times.

now why wouldn't a honda's 1.8 liter I4 motor have the torque of ur 4.6 V8? hrmmm...maybe its the displacement. im a full on believer that there is no replacement for displacement (domestics are in the 4's, imports are in the 6's last time i checked) so that is proof right there. but this doesn't take away from the fact that u can go out and modify them. not everyone wants/likes the styling of a domestic (i respect them, but don't want one), and would rather have the challenge of pushing the most power possible from a smaller displacement motor.

and finally, 800 hp from a 4 banger isnt unheard of. the guys on the NHRA circuit are pushing that number (if not more) from their I4's. no, they aren't daily driven, but still they are out there.

last-original topic, putting an exhaust onto an import is not pointless. it CAN be when they put a muffler on and think they have an amazing racing exhaust system that adds 15+ hp to the wheels, but i hardly think of tanabe or greddy as rice modifications. i DO agree that the loud weed-whackers do get annoying, but they aren't going away i guess. so get used to them or turn up the tunes... :2cents:

The engine of the type R is a 1.8l which develops 195 HP! Does any one of you "rice haters" realize that???

Your shitty mustang GT produces only 260 HP for a 4.6l.

If honda was to build a 4.6l engine, they could get 500HP out of it!!!

And even if your mustang is a bit faster, you loose your advantage at the first turn anyways..
