how do you make a B20 hybrid engine?

also....what cars do these enginge belong to?

H22A
H23A
F22B
F20B

and how good are they?

a b20 hybrid is made using one of many combinations:
all use the b20 block(crv) and mate it to a b-series head such as the b16(civic si) b16b(civic R) b18c(teg gsr) or b18c5(teg R)

hope that helps.

as far as those engine go
H22a 2.2 DOHC VTEC - 92-95 Prelude
h23a 2.3 DOHC Non VTEC - 96+ prelude
F22B 2.2 SOHC VTEC - 94-95 Accord
F20B 2.0 SOHC NON VTEC - 95+ Accord

crxlvr, ive heard of people using B17 cranks with custom rods in a CRVtec while it would give a better r/s ratio wouldnt you also lose displacement

it would depend on the type of pistons and connecting rods you are losing, the b17 crank im almost positive has the same turning radius as the other b series engines.

oh thanks, ive thought about having oil squirters welded in a B20 and making a CRVtec but having a B16 sleeved and bored is becoming more and more attractive.

when you bore/sleeve a b16 dont you have to lose the oil squirters. and I think the B17a crank would destroke the B20 block a bit.

ive never heard that before but maby so

i think thats true after the bore/sleeve

well yes putting a 1.7 liter crank in a b20 block would destroke it thus creating a few problems. first you would need to have custom rods built. second you would be losing what makes the b20 a b20. the displacement! why destroke a block youre putting in to get more displacement from? also why do people worry so much about oil squirters? if youre not revving past 8k then there is no reason to have them. most of the cars on the road right now dont have them and they last a long time. so what are you so worried about?

H22A 92-01 Honda Prelude
H23A 99 Honda Accord Wagon DOHC VTEC
F22B 92-96 Honda Prelude DOHC NON-VTEC
F20B Accord SiR DOHC VTEC

i realize i dont have to have oil squirters, i also dont have to use head studs, copper gaskets, sythetic oil... i think of it more as insurance against fucking my engine up. heaven forbid my pistons run cooler

If you destroke the B20, you still have a larger bore.

isnt the way the B18 went to a 2.0 is the bigger bore, so even if you destroked it, you may end up with around a 1.8 liter with a perfect R/S ratio. or you could buy a b16 and already have it perfect. but then its 1.6

well you missed what i said. while putting the 1.7l crank in the b20 block would bring it around 1.9-1.8 liters that requires CUSTOM rods. do you realize how much that would cost? unless you have a lot of money its unnecessary. and yes the bore is bigger in the b20 but that leaves very little room between cylinder walls making them very thin and that could lead to problems if revved too high.

how much are custom rods?

and also, does the blockgaurd (think its what it is called), the thing that fits betwen the block and the sleeves do alot of good? it sems like that will eliminate the chances of the sleeve walls ever walking around on you.

yea i think does but it makes the top of the sleeve alot hotter. ive heard of people posting the them though

which gets hot easier, my blockgaurd is an aluminum i think, the sleeves are just some kind of steel, right, wouldnt some of the sleve heat dissapate into the blockgard, and then when the coolant flows through the block gaurd, it cools it off, and then it takes more heat away from the sleeve, so shouldnt it stay just as cool as it used to? or no?

i think the sleeves are iron, but the block guards do make the top run hotter
